Because you can combine two long shafts and two curved shafts, it quadruples the amount you can bring in a single trip - 4, 16, or 24 in bare hands, cart, or cart with tyres. Doesn't help for firewood or butt logs, but if you need lots of kindling or tool handles it can make a really big difference.

I just applaud the fact we can separate them again and they don't become "soulbound" to each other like two rubber tires, or those dammed track cart kits.

i'd say it doubles you collection rate as we could previously fit shafts in baskets (2 +food or sharp stone, or 3 shafts even)
But it's great you don't need a basket. Eves can give their basket to kids and go get branches.
