Hold on, Cardinals?

So the latest holiday update introduced these two new objects:

They seem to appear an hour after a yule tree has all its candles burnt (to eat the garlands, possibly?), after that it looks like they just stay there forever and do nothing.
Has anyone seem them in game yet? Do they do anything else? Are there actual "animal" versions of them? I have so many questions

Wouldn't onetech show any actions/ transitions it has? I'm seeing nothing interesting with "Pine Tree with Cardinals", so looks like decoration.

Yeah, they seem to be there just for show. Now I'm a little disappointed

The one male cardinal moves around and then the red birds are static when there are two. However, they make really nice bird noises (birdsong) when you move into their view. I am in the process of making the second tree to see if the birdsongs will stack. I have them planted near my forge so they sing when I am smithing. FYI you can plant these anywhere by making a white pine cutting with shears and watering the sapling twice.

Decoration and art is the only thing that actually matters in this game since everything else has no value or preciosity. These birds are worth more than any tool or machine you'll ever make in game

The birdsongs stack if you have more than one of the cardinal trees. It's really nice.

Oh there's my yule tree. Only reason I know is because I put newcomen blocks around it to prevent anyone from griefing it after I put an hour into making it. The little chirping sounds really were worth all the effort of putting it up.

Hey Tarr! I do agree the bird sounds are lovely. Me and my mom worked as medics right below the tree. When she died I buried her right next to it.

Oh I dyed the medic aprons myself! I made a santa hat too and passed It to my grandkid. I planted two more pine trees because I wanted to have more cardinals in town, but people probably forgot to water them...or just cut them for wood.

I don't recall ever seeing you but me, my mom, and a woman named Hunter were all medics. A guy even volunteered to be stabbed so we could all heal him.
Hunter was wearing the Santa hat, but she passed it down to a random child. Can't say I saw any of the pine trees though.

Tarr, were you Eve Back? It's Gideon. You showed me the tree as a baby and told me the cardinals would take hours to come. The first came when I was in my late fifties, luckily. I saw the second in another, much later life.

Yeah I specifically came back (or tried and got lucky) and announced I'm back since I was back to finish the little protective area around the tree. So yes, I was indeed Eve back and explained to you that the birds would take awhile to come to the city. My latest group of kids ended up finishing the towns second tree and we put up a barrier around that tree as well

Hey! when you were young I asked ur mom If her kid wants to be medic, then gave you the apron! And Hunter was one of my daughters. Sad u dont remember me : / but I quess I didnt do much so Its fair.

Also Idk If it was me you saw, but I did ask some man to stab me so you could heal me lol

The way this thread has developed is really cool. It's neat when everyone's stories stitch together to make a sort of history.

Ohh, I do remember you then! I guess I didn't catch your name. In fact I do remember seeing two ladies bickering a few minutes before I died. For some reason one was accusing the other of wasting water? or maybe stealing bowls? But the lady replied saying another player told her to water.. something. She moved out of my screen as she was talking so I didn't hear the last bit. My guess is that someone stumbled upon your trees and watered them, or maybe planted some more and passed it down to that lady.
Also the only medical emergency that happened was that practice stab, so my job was easy to say the least.

Just got born into new family in this town and... My tree grew!!! People even made stones around it to protect it omg, Im so happy.

on the left is my tree, on right is Tarr's.

Also my other tree south grew too, I will be decorating It now^^ My big sister Is jesus and has a santa hat so the town Is very christmas'y.

Goodness this looks great! You guys should plant more trees and turn this place into a park. Sadly I haven't been able to play in this town yet

Haha, sorry about the ghetto stone in the back there. Someone ended up hammering in an extra stone since they didn't see the barrier I put in the back there. I wasn't going risk letting your tree get chopped down either since they take waaaay too much work and are too nice to let someone with an axe ruin it.
