A simple suggestion : why closing the chat tab when we have sent a message and not leave it opened ?
In game, the keyboard is only used to chat, so is no real need to close/open that chatting interface.
It would save 1 key press, and make chatting more comfortable for new players, in that hectic game (especially if we have to type with one hand while doing something else with the other)

You dont have to click enter to open chat

You can hold down the space bar to 'freeze' the view in place, which would conflict with an always-open chat window. Personally I never use that feature, but personally I don't find pressing enter to open chat is a big deal either and it's the standard in most games (well, not always enter but pressing a key to type is standard) so I don't know if it's much of an issue for the average new player either.

The chat interface also takes up screen space. Which is already limited.
