This is mostly a vanity item/animal like how bonsais and radios are now, but why not?
A Wild Parrot can occasionally be found in the Jungle. After being tamed with either a Bowl of Wheat or a Bowl of Corn Seeds, it can be picked up. After that, it has to be fed any seed every 5 minutes, or it will die. The parrot can be placed onto any wooden branch to prevent it from moving. It cannot breed to prevent Parrotpocalypse.
Now, here's what makes the parrot unique. In its tame form, any phrases spoken within 5 tiles of it will be "remembered" and eventually repeated. Every 15 seconds, the parrot says a random phrase from its memory. It cannot remember curses or phrases spoken by other parrots for reasons that should be obvious.
This is my first suggestion, so I'm looking for feedback and/or constructive criticism.

I'd rather have it so that if a town plants a jungle tree and leaves a seed bowl on its roots, it'd have birds move in like cardinals do with pines, and we'd get nice birdsongs in the surrounding area as long as the seed bowl is replaced in xx amount of time.
That'd give us some more nice background sounds rather than a parrot who repeats swearwords every 15 seconds (just expecting the obvious).
I also rather have parrots in the wild than dying on a branch as a pet. Also in real-life.

Good idea, but i disagree with needing to feed them every 5 minutes or they die, we would just end up with a bunch of dead parrots (they can feed themselves just fine like the sheeps)
imo it would be better to be able to feed it, pick it up and then say a phrase that the parrot will repeat every 5 minutes or so, it would be like a note that you dont have to pick up to get the message and to change the message you feed it again
as for where it should be, being able to put it on your shoulder and have it repeat messages could be fun, and other than that in a jungle tree or on the ground like the gooses, they would have a flying animation and go around town like the goose, a bird house why not
i dont think the curses would be an issue unless the parrot has curse tokens XD
As for a song im not sure the parrot is really a singing bird we already have cardinals but they are pretty hard to make, musical instruments would be a good idea too

They aren't, thus I said...

Birds, not parrots specifically. Maybe parrots could be one of the RNG bird options that moves in and then chatters there, mimicking the surrounding sounds, until it leaves due to no feeding.

well if we are just feeding the parrot seeds then that isn't a problem! We could feed it squash, cabbage, carrot, milkweed, corn, and goose berry seeds to the parrot! you can also combine the seed bowls (cabbage seeds, corn kernels, threshed wheat, and squash seeds) to make mixed seed. Like pies it matters what seeds you use, this will affect how long the seeds will last, such as a cabbage and squash seed, bowl will last less then a cabbage, squash, seeds with threshed wheat.
I can imagine both ways of having parrots having them on trees that you have to maintain or a pet that will live in your village, I see problems with both, the pet idea will be nice but I can see a lot of dead parrots every where! with the tree Idea, my biggest concern is that, with that is what what tree do we use? all of the jungle trees now are just have a function unlike swamp trees and unless you can make new type of jungle tree I can't see that working. but all in all I like this idea!

no one ever keeps up a fire in 4 mintues, each parrot would die instantly
i guess it could be fed and gather colored feathers to hats

Maybe I should ditch the feeding and make the parrots immortal? Or maybe they have to be fed to be able to be picked up?
Offline
Yeah, I'd either make them immortal or only have them need feeding after say an hour - both for gameplay reasons as pein said and also because parrots can live longer than sixty years in real life!
How about a perch you can build out of, say, tied short shaft + short shaft. You have to feed a wild parrot to pick it up, and once you're holding it it can learn the. First phrase you say. Then if you put it down on the perch it will sit there and occasionally repeat its phrase. Feeding it again allows it to be picked up and taught a second phrase, and it would cycle through them randomly.
