An argument why you should start refunds - or open your ears to the general crowd, the non-mods and non-VIP.
1. tech spike
what's this you say? planes? cars? cloth? but what about everything in between...?
the tech spike is preventing you from moving in more, generic items. the most diverse, non-tech advancing items you've given us are turkeys and Christmas trees.
how fun.
seasonal s***.
not to be salty, but i find it rude you prefer to celebrate holidays (in game) than expand your world (in game)
fixing?
OHOL suggestions subreddit. they have acres of fluff to add. *some are potentially addable easily.*
or, ask discord. but nah, it's a wee too much an echo chamber.
there's no such thing as "enough useful fluff" to add to the game.
2. wrong-speak
i have heard direct, honest claims that wrong-speak is curse-able, and a death sentence, in game.
we have to let hard RP'ers go, with (witnessed, twitch) kidnapping, turning kids into cats??????? and such.
also, you have a set of people who are free to go around thinking "this game needs to be harder than dark souls" while in reality we need difficulty in eve, but peace when you are an eve child. Yeah, starting from nothing is drastic. but you seem to nerf everything you can put your hands on. Iron? nerf! soil? nerf! a supposedly "safe" biome with a good temperature and deadly mosquitos? NERF 'TILL IT'S A HOT POCKET
yet we can't talk about it, because this game wasn't difficult enough? because this is your game? this is an obvious reason i want a refund. silence of the people.
fixing? maybe set some basic laws. you need it to be much less abusable to curse people who go against your RP standards of paedophilia.
remove your pretty people and look into other's opinion's as well.
3. learning curve. look at it.
when you get into the game, you're given a tutorial, fine, but sometimes you end up as an eve. people tell you that this game is meant to be darksouls x3. this is a simple one to explain, but hard one to implement.
fixing? go back a few (hundred) nerfs. iron? un-nerf (at least double its health!) make certain items not require durability (graves! trash pits?) or add copper tools. heh. Next, make compost less round-a-bout and unusable on basic berry bushes, maybe using a different, cross-bred berry bush, specific for compost (and replacement for gooseberries.) ask reddit about what to do about the compost issue. there'll be plenty of impatient eves waiting for your returning grace to the abandoned reddit.
you do know, you need to undo a few things... heh.
it could be as simple as undoing certain (be it annoying) updates which provide supposed balance, or you could do your fancy-pants way of this.
Can't agree? you've got people who want a refund. and very quickly want it done.
jason. stop isolating yourself.

Satire?
Likes sword based eve names. Claymore, blades, sword. Never understimate the blades!

Funny how people are quick to assume pissed off people who write long messages.
what's not funny is when they are immediately dismissed.
i guess i have to state i tried to keep the post as sane as possible, but jason's attitude towards us and his insanity is not helping.
it's not satire, don't ask any crap like that please.

This reminds me I should be off on other forums asking for refunds for games I didn't like. heh didn't even know that was a thing.

There is no need for the hostility it was a simple question.
I've found that jason is quite responsive to complaints, he made several fixes to the temp overhaul after many complained. Also if you bought the game through steam you CAN get a refund.
But that isn't the point really your approach is far too aggressive to be taken seriously so in all honesty it does sound like you're exaggerating.
Try emailing jason for a refund if you are that concerned. He is only one person and accusations like this are pretty unfair.

Turkeys expanded the food supply since you can eat carved turkey on a plate, and drink turkey broth (some people have called this 'turkey soup'). The game mostly concerns the food supply. So, I don't see why turkeys wouldn't count as expanding the game.
I also don't understand why you think that Christmas trees didn't expand the game. Yes, they were decorative and didn't make it easier to survive, but so what? Why are purely decorative objects excluded from the list of new items that have expanded the game?
You might have a point about nerfs, though from the way you've described it sounds like there exist many to consider over time. I doubt them all equivalent. I have no reason to consider them all as necessarily bad.

maybe you should've read how trippy the airplane update was.
i've seen him update and he dares not test his game, for balance, for bugs, before shoving it out to us.
yes, i did send* it to him, and i hope you guys know i hope for at least him to start compiling OHOL suggestions reddit, going there for new updates instead of relying on instincts (they're poor)

in general, buying a video game is a gamble.
If it works on your computer and you can connect to the servers and the game is playable, a person is not generally entitled to a refund.
FFS it's a $20 dollar game and you have lifetime access. The fact that a bunch of us love the game and play it all the time shows that whether or not one likes it is a matter of taste and preference.
This is a weird experimental game, that should have been obvious when purchasing server access.
Edit: what does "sleeping user" mean? Suspended?

oh hey, elitist mc-"darksouls 3.5"!
i see you like to shoot down all forms of criticism.
you are the essence of reason 2.
go have a nice day ruining another person's arguement with reflects, mmk?
to clarify, i see you in other threads defending the developer's crazy decisions because they're barely tolerable by anyone but people like you.
i'd like a refund because i have ~150 of spare income a year to spend on games, and that's 1/7th of my yearly expenditure.
unless you can consider i have almost no form of income and that he never stated in the first place, this will be the hell it is now you should look for other threads to reflect.
2nd edit... i don't know what sleeping user is. i haven't played OHOL in a while, but i dare not touch it. the only times i have touched it in the past 4 months is accidental task bar clicks.
i used to like this game. it used to have a beautiful goal.... i don't know what it turned into.
i'm sorry for my rudeness.
hopefully, final edit:
Sleep depriviation.
i've been hit with insomnia the levels my brother would be scared of. 1-3 hours total last night, no sleep today.
i've also forgotten my meds.
i'm sorry if stating what i know of why my hostility happened is bad. i still don't get if it's bad to apologize with reasons.
i wouldn't mind 10,15$ refund because that would totally buy me a game i might be more interested in.
if i can get a refund, and jason can get to work on the reddit suggestions, i'll be very thankful.
i just do know the person i was initially hostile with, has been hostile to other users over the temperature update... yet tynan jason doesn't think of making rabbit hunting a little easier. needs more rabbitos per hole, maybe.
this game should be hard, but someone with handiwork and a good location, with a good set of children should be able to build a city.
it's just, i've known myself to love crafting games. it hurts my head to see all these cruddy changes.
i'll get my meds, maybe i'm going up and down in emotions, i don't know. i need my meds.

The game isn't hell, it's quite fun. A family made it into the 90th generation post update, a longer family line than there had been in the weeks before.
The trailer showed someone dropping dead from hunger. The most mainstream recognition this got, from a vice article, made it very clear the challenges of living to adulthood and understanding the game world.
This game was never meant to be a chatroom where people stand around naked in the desert.
BTW Pro-tip: the games on GOG are DRM free and you can legally download torrents of any of them. So you could have got literally hundreds of games for free easily, but chose to pay $20 for server access to this one. It's really not Jason's fault if you personally don't enjoy this game, that other players clearly like very much.
Also there are other great open-source games a person could play that don't require paid server access. Some of my favorites are Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe, Battle for Wesnoth, and FreeCol.
I'm not really sympathetic to this argument that you don't have money for other games. Most games I play are free.
I'll tell you what I tell all my children: Make basket, always carry food.

good for you. you actually own your computer.

If you want to make a case for a refund you need to email, posting in forums won't do a thing.
Personally I too feel I'm mostly done with OHOL out of various reasons. However, I do think, I had my fair share of fun for 20 bucks. Also would do it again!
After a while every game gets a bit old for me. I cannot stay focused on a game for long anyway, and for this OHOL made it quite last for a while in comparison to most the industry puts out.

Jason some of these people (ie Rage) have like 200 hours played and are asking for refunds. Come on now. You owe them nothing.
Offline
You can email jason at jasonrohrer@fastmail.com for a full refund if you bought it off the site, otherwise you'll have to talk to Steam Support. Jason will always give a 100% refund, no questions asked regardless of how long you've owned the game or how long you've played it. This thread is now being closed.
