A: Leave it alone so nobody gives you trouble

B: Pick it up right away and look for the first opportunity to use it on someone

C: Pick it up and hide it

D: Pick it up, carry it and hope that you never have to use it

E: Pick it up and look for the nearest loaf of bread

I'm a D guy of a guy, myself. I'd rather make sure someone with an itchy trigger finger doesn't get their hands on it.

I put it in the nearest container. If that happens to be the kitchen box or my backpack or a random basket I don't care. A drawn knife is dangerous.

If I have a bag it goes in the bag and I take on the job of killing sheep and slicing bread if no one is doing that. If someone is doing that I just keep it and keep an eye out for a young person with a bag who seems industrious to give it to.

If I end up with multiple knives I make them in to shears.

or take it apart if it is new and put the blade only in a pack to give to someone a trusted adult etc.

If I have no bag I pick it up and put it in a container near the bakery or sheep or hold it until a person with a bag takes it.

Knives should not be out on the ground.

Before the update I'd end up with a backpack full of knives far too often. I wonder what people made of my corpse? Old man hoarding knives. (I don't hoard them, generally I give a knife to anyone who can say why they need it who hasn't been acting odd)

I lived in a town where a knife was on the ground and everyone knew not to use it unless it was necessary for something. Such a heavenly place. Too bad it died out because of lack of fertility.

I've been in towns like that, but also towns where it started like that then some useless little shit was born who decided to ruin it all. Some people think that if a knife is lying there people are "stupid" for not doing anything to prevent them from becoming kill joys. And these same people think they are teaching a lesson of some kind. Or that is their rationalization for having so little self control.

Basically, just pick it up and put it into a backpack, basket or box near one of the workstations that use knives - kitchen, sheep pen, mango farm. Knife on the ground can get picked up by mistake and lead to accidental stabbings. And it attracts shitbirds who can't resist killing people if they get their hands on a weapon.

i generally go for storage anyways and 99% of my lives got a knife
i don't believe in public knifes
maybe on older settlements off hours is ok

if i see one i pick it up
if people kill each other i try to take the killers weapons and the victims weapon

i was the one asking for knife melting, cause i often end up having 4-5, and either put in a basket and hide it, or give to decent players one each

i still think no storage no weapon and no skill to make knife, then you don't deserve a knife
inherited knives make people cocky, they think they lead shit, i was killed by one inheritor, even if he should have seen me several times being ahead of him solving town problems

so i welcoem the new change, and i will melt down every single knife i cant find a decent inheritor
i wont give knife for my daughter or a baker, for the few bread they make it doesn't justify, most of them just wants to bully others with it, and they arent too skilled at recognizing when to kill sheep, 80% of kids wants to be a baker anyway, and putting stuff on a plate or mashing a rabbit, doesn't need much game knowledge
i give knife for shepherd or composter, smith
so if you see a person with multiple knives then ask for one or tell her to melt it down the excess

this was quite a problem cause if i arrive late to camps, people withhold 7-8 knives and i got to make new anyway
its kind of normal that you have 8-10 decent people who need a knife for sheep, rubber or higher tech
when you get old same time just reset knife counter to 2
i wouldn't leave the city with no knife but no need more than 1-2

if i don't, then don't & hope to get soon to a backpack & that nobody gets killed in the meantime

also depends on the town & how many knives there are, the more knives there are the safer it is to leave it,
if that's the only knife, then it will with a high probability end up in murder

A because I don't know if that knife is being used by someone in the direct area. If I'm doing a job that requires a knife I'm not generally going to go out of my way to make a BP just to hold a knife. I would rather just leave my knife in the a basket near wherever my work space is so if others need to use the knife they can quickly use and put it back. Having people freak out and swoop up the knife I'm using for baking/shepherding is frustrating and the only thing worse is when they refuse to return it.

At the end of the day the knife is a tool first and a weapon second. Many functions of a town require a knife and hoarding them or taking them from workers only causes annoyances.

just died out on a camp of Eve drea
other city straight up north 1800 away, plus 50 right
we still had 19 girl kids somewhere, on the other camp they had like 4 girls max

i took 4 packs filled 2 with knives, and 2 with pies
melted down 8+2 knives maybe someone will use it to make more cars/planes
