this happened to me a while back I was playing in a semi developed town (no bakery ) and I ran into some thing strange, my side of the family didn't have a last name while the other half had! and its not like we were un related we were all related yet only half had a last name! my question is how does this happen and if you weren't named at birth can you make your own last name?

If a mother doesn’t name a child until five years (I guess), this kid can be named without being on someone’s arms, but they loses the last name, so if they name their children, they won’t have a last name as well.
You can’t give you a last name if you weren’t named.
And also, a family can have different last names, I was in a town where my cousin’s last name was Betance, my other cousin was Omega and my last name was Omega, it happens because if someone name a unrelated baby, they will get the namer’s last name.
It happened in the town with a huge road that connect two bell towns.

You used to be able to name someone by shouting at them if they didnt have a name beyond childhood.

You can't now. nor can you name yourself if not an eve

pretty sure the naming someone by shouting is still a thing, was unnamed till i was 20, then suddenly had a name (nouf)
