Have you ever seen an altar of three adobe walls?
They seemed kind at first.
They built an altar and said it was for God.
It was in the middle of the town, so it interrupted traffic, but young girls opinion was ignored.
The village needed workers, but they were only preoccupied with making altars and praying.
And constantly ate berries and drained the stew pot.
Finally i told them plz work! and they shouted me heretical!!
Then he took my baby and killed her in front of the altar.
They said It's for God. Everything is God's will.
In my eyes, they're just crazy... or looked like a group of griffers.
I've seen these altars before and didn't know what they were. now I know...

they are roleplaying
i don't like roleplayers in OHOL either, they still are not directly griefers, they are just bored with farming, eating, clothes & crafting steel stuff
if you don't want to participate, then suicide, that's what i always do, if the people in a town or the happenings are not to my liking, one has always the chance to spawn somewhere else, to other players, which are not as bored
& don't dispair, they are still as mortal as you are & the included randomness is what prevents players to repeat life after the same strategy, the same roleplay

It just happened with me, a guy said sacrifice baby for the gods and stole me from my mother, now I got banned from a nice town because of a bored kid.
If I see someone talking weird shit about religion, I`ll dirt all pads and kill that person without asking anything.
Edit: For me, it's grieffing, since they are making player's experience worse and less fun, also the town was running out of girls and I was a baby girl, he just stole me and stabbed me, if it's not griefing, I don't know what it is. I mean, eating food, keeping tools and good clothes without working and stabbing people, ruin a town, people around will stop working or work slowly because now they are afraid of being stabbed or they are chasing the griefer.

It's a life. Nobody said they would all be wine and roses. Sometimes you're the sacrifice. Sorry it had to happen to you.
Your reaction is perfectly natural. But not all cults are murder-cults. Some are just worshippers of undying geese. Or Bob.
So maybe investigate a bit before getting all stabby, okay?
(No, I was not part of the murder cult. I haven't been in-game in a while.)

Don't be too quick to judge other people's religions. Not all cults/shrines/religions are bad for the village.
A few lives ago, I was born to a mother who was tending a fire at the center of a three adobe shrine. She explained to me that we were priestesses and it was our job to tend the flames. I don't always role-play, but I don't mind playing along when it is harmless. So I spent the rest of my life hauling firewood, kindling, and other things to the shrine. I made smaller fires from the "Holy Flame" and cooked "fire foods" like omelettes, stew, cooked rabbit, cooked goose, and popcorn. Occasionally, I would visit the nearby village and encourage people to come to our shrine to eat good foods and receive the Blessing of the External Flames.
My mother spent most of her life standing by the Holy Fire eating mushrooms, sharing the visions brought to her by the flames, and adding firewood to the Fire, but she died happy. Our little cult added a lot of food variety to the village. I taught my daughters how to tend the fire and make fire foods for the village. It was a harmless little religion that I would happily start in another town if they looked like they needed the warmth of the Holy Fire in their hearts.

If they can role play, I can do it as well, now I am a kind of religious phobic or something like that and I will stab those weirdos who drain all the food of village, don’t work, kill people and stop people’s work. I know it would be a kind of griefing killing people without investigate only because they are religious, but I don’t care, I hate them so much now, I couldn’t have a revenge, so someone else must pays.

Yes I know, those kind of people are okay, I watch Twisted videos and he does some religious stuff, but always harmless and he works a lot helping the village. I’ll turn a blind eye, if I’ve seen them working on something before before (cooking, farming gathering...), but if they sound paranoic or trying hard to hire people or even luring people, I’ll stab without pity.

I read the title of this topic as "a gipper named a religion" and thought it was going to be about Ronald Regan
