When the last fertile or potentially fertile female dies everyone dies

So I’m brain storming and I was thinking about life or death voices and how they animate the early game and motivate cooperation and efficiency. So what if you’re family name being extinct was game over for towns? Only the people in that line would die.

No more sausage towns. Pay attention to the kids because without them it’s all over. As a newer player I LIKED it when births tapered off I could play with my task in peace, it’s not obvious in this game when you are already dead. Another option would be to announce the death of a family name to the whole big server with a VOG message “The Stark name is dead” avoiding this announcement would motivate me.

Sounds too much like magic to me.

Hmm.... you really think it takes long for new players to learn that the town is doomed if there are no women left?

I imagine that a few twilights by the fading fire with your last brother (hmm.... I guess this is it....) would hammer the idea home pretty quick.

As a newer player it took me a long time to notice because I was just focused on doing some new unfamiliar task perhaps with one other person an older woman or man who was teaching me.  It took me a long time to clue in that if I was a woman and there were not many left I needed to make an effort to stay warm and use yum. It isn't obvious that the end is already there. I think a lot of people don't connect the town dying and never ever ever (for real) seeing what you built again with kids. In fact, people complain a lot about how there are to many when there are just enough. And of course all the babies using /die makes me less emotionally invested as a mom and not happy when a kid is born but annoyed like "why are you interrupting me" this in turn, I think makes babies use /die more.

Birth should be something special, something that is mostly happy unless you are really low on food.

Sausagetowns are so clean and well-organized.   Why would you want to end them?

It might be nice if there was some kind of audio trigger when your town is doomed, but if the last female is already dead, then it is too late to fix the problem.  If it came a little sooner, you would have a chance to focus on fertility and child care.

Perhaps a ticking sound that gets louder as the last female's age approaches 40?   Oh no!   Her biological clock ... the end is nigh!
