Recently, a topic opened up about how Toxic stream snipes Twisted.
I get the new changes are supposed to make stream sniping harder, but...
The current curse changes do more harm than good.
If the update pushes out without any current change, it’ll be griefer central.
Reasons why these changes are bad:
• Multi-line families living together can have their town ruined, and only people from the griefer’s line can curse them. This hurts the town especially if there’s only one other person in the griefer’s side of the family.
• This is mostly assumption, but Eves, instead of starting a new village, can track down a town and shoot people down with a bow, slowly but surely taking them down. Nothing can be done about it since no one in the town is related to the Eve.
• Don’t have a curse token? Just got stabbed? Nope, can’t curse the person who just stabbed you in your next life. Is the griefer old? Haha, turns out you can’t curse the griefer when he’s long dead and you never knew, even if you were born into the same lineage (in a further town).
• Town just got massively griefed by an old person? You’re just a baby? Nope, you can’t curse em when you’re older because they’ve been dead longer than you can say “Curse Sally Jones”.
I feel that a fix for this is being able to curse a person within a radius of said person. This fixes the ‘curse family members only’ aspect.
Another fix would be able to turn the curse phrase into a command for long names and kids. Maybe he could implement a minimum age for this.
Feel free to list other flaws I didn’t catch here.

ridiculous changes, ridiculous reason for changes
for the record "act smart jason" is preferred over "act fast jason"
true for curses, fences and all out of the blue ideas

Sure the lineage one CAN make sense but more practically this will be abused by people just walking to other towns to grief them because ecks dee.
The death thing is frankly dumb. I really dislike the idea I have to bend over backwards and let someone grief the town to potentially get them any curses and the thing is it's not even guaranteed the village has tokens to send the person to DT. All you end up doing is either killing them before people can curse so they get away with no punishment what so ever for griefing or you decide to let them possible permanent damage to a town.

Not being able to curse after 60 seconds is retarded. I see some sense in the cursing not affecting people outside your family, but that's gonna cause major issues too with multi-family areas. Not well thought out.
Such an extroardinary reaction b/c of a single post. This is indeed ridiculous. The curse system works properly 99% of the time.

Well, I can make the 60 seconds longer. I'll make it 5 minutes for now.
The point is, people used to be able to curse you by name for a whole hour after you died. I'm pretty sure that was mostly abused.
The family thing is a shortcut to "stop it from being server-wide". This is what stream sniping is all about (knowing someone by name from the stream, even if you aren't in their town).
I could also make it so that you have to be physically near someone to curse them. However, limiting it to inside a family does a few other things:
1. Allows wars/rivalries/raids/etc between families (something I'm looking to encourage anyway).
2. Maybe encourages you to build a tow-wide fence/gate, to keep out griefer Eves.
3. Is a step toward weening you off curses as a way to deal with griefers, now that you have fences (and will in the future have other mechanics too, maybe).
Multi-lineage towns are possible, but I don't think they're the norm, currently.

yeah same went for posting lineages, i was cursed after posting my lineage link
or they knew it's me from discord
i was killed for "hoarding" when i took one bucket from town and made 6 other cause know it was me by telling on discord that i made grave pen
also got recognized for a few other signature structures
you should make curses a command not by age limit BUT not for babies and kids
it's a hard choice to abandon kids but it's necessary, they seem to be overly butthurt over clothes and people who tell them anything
kids who say "curse" at any age turn out to be killers and just search for excuses to kill others even if they missed out on what happened
also good deffence if you got an argument with family and they don't appreciate your work, you can just quit on that life instead of you needing to hunt down the person who walks around asking and bartering for curses
chances are that you need to be on screen to see a griefer or killer, so if you don't have proof, your curses arent viable
and we all know people curse you even if they are the ones who grief or steal or kill
the curse system is a joke
learn pvp or keep your mouth shut
people nowadays allow themselves much more cause they not afraid of being killed if they are a dick

5 minutes is obviously better than 1 minute, but it doesn't solve the problem of kids being unable to curse griefers. How old depends on length of griefer's name, which is weird, but it was fine with a long 60m timer. It could be shorter than 60m but 5m isn't enough unless you add the ability for the young to curse.

Basically this. It seems goofy to choose between having to keep a griefer alive long enough for people to curse or killing them and denying them potential punishment because you didn't want to have fix even more stuff they messed up.
Fences aren't a substitute for curses as we don't have the tools to properly deal with griefers in game (yet). When we have the actual ability to punish players ourselves for their misdeeds with jails and what not we have to have some sort of buffer that puts bad players out of the player pool for everyone and not just a game of troll hot potato.

You say that but there have been many times the griefers would come into discord complaining about getting cursed past thier comfort level.
The curses after lives helped punish them. If someone went around town killing only fertile females running into the wild, and coming back and killing more, I would write their name down and curse them again when I got my token back.
They know how to grief to a CERTAIN limit and abuse the curse system. Now you're just giving them more room to wiggle around punishment..
Also the horrendous lag in the last week has not helped. Pvp when people fly across screen and disappear in front of you is rough. I also stabbed someone 3 or 4 tiles behind me while chasing in front of me.. so something is off there.

I'm flying high. But the worst is never first, and there's a person that'll set you straight. Cancelling the force within my brain. For flying high. The simulator has been disengaged.

Remember to keep your kids' names short and your Eve's name shorter. Makes it a lot easier to curse them.

Yeah, what's the deal with lag in the last week?
I played today, and saw no lag.
Though I did get a connection drop twice (but was able to reconnect instantly). I've never personally seen a connection drop before.
Offline
I also been getting the double disconnection issue repeatedly. Today it even failed to login me back into the game for a couple tries.

>comments to single brief mention of lag

When I have a moment tonight ill try to link a vid of twisted here where he sees the character lag and ill timestamp it.
I feel like it's a problem with the connection drops as well, and I get hit with them a lot more often than i usually did. I can reconnect, but its still bad to have it happen 3 or 4 times a life like I have lately.

Why will I care about my family when my sons will get conscripted into the army to fight? If the authorities of my extended family want to conscript my sons into THEIR wars, while I will choose the extended family over my sons? People don't choose *potential* children or cousins over their sons and won't do so in this game also. Not as a rule. Wars would NOT be good for people caring about their families... it would just lead to resentment to the family members who started the wars and sought to throw their sons into combat.

I think the real problem is that Jason's vision for this game is far different from most of yours. The dude wants it to be multigenerational rust with a lot of drama, not a meticulously calculated survival game where bad people are excluded. He wants more violence.
What is an ominous blade blank?
It's that blade blank next to the file and short staff you see in a naked toddler's basket.

If we can only curse our family anyway it would make sense not to need a last name in the curse.
ie If I was part of the bean family I would only need to say curse Sally II not Curse Sally Bean II
The curse could potentially be a lot shorter that way so younger people could curse
