The importance of communication

Just had a doozy of a life.

I was born to a mom running through the wilderness.  She wasn't an eve, just making her way to a bell tower.  We are close enough to it I decide to stick around.  I get separated from her along the way, but keep pressing on towards the home marker.  I arrive to find an apocalypse tower with 3 endstones, surrounded by sone walls and a locked door.  Pretty cool stuff, but of course not, what I'm looking for.

My mom survived though!  She shows up on a horse cart and tells me town is nearby.  I follow her and follow her, to no avail;  She's lost.  Now I'm lost and having kids of my own and my only marker is this dumb tower.  Most of my kids die, but I have one daughter, who I bring up to speed.  We end up muddling our way across the town eventually, real advanced place but long dead.  Awesome!  I start having a look around and have another daughter, when a stranger rides up on a horse.  Double awesome!

Except not really.  She says hi and asks if apocalypse has been stopped.  I say "There are three stones.  Door is locked though."  She bows me to death.  I guess she thought I made it.  In retrospect, I probably should have led with "I didn't build it, lets go knock it down.

Or maybe she's the one in the doomsday cult.  If the server wipes, now you guys know why.

Re: The importance of communication

Some people are trying to wipe the server right now (I plan on helping them to be honest) due to not being able to actually let Jason test the water update. Sure I don't want to lose all the cool towns we have right now but it's not really feasible to make sure the water update is tweaked right.

This is just unfortunately one of the times where a bunch of old towns being alive make it so balancing can't really be done and like others I would prefer to not have Jason make the game unplayable for a week while he twists and turns the knobs trying to balance around these old places.

Basically the server needs reset to make sure Jason doesn't overdo the nerf and so players can play the game as it's supposed to be intended. Either we wipe the server and restart so we can get a grip on the new update or we have to wait until the spiral gets far enough out to prevent old towns from popping up.

Why wouldn't Jason just wipe it himself?

I do not think that Jason plays bigserver2 all that often (1. He can't since he's writing the code and some changes aren't simple 2. Not every change needs tested on bigserver2.).  Jason also, so far as I know, does not use a zoom mod for various reasons including that he doesn't like them.  I'm not sure he uses any sort of coordinates either.  So, Jason isn't likely to realize how it ends up easy enough for some people to find old towns (I don't go about doing this myself, but I believe others can do so fairly easy with enough patience in looking around where they spawn).  Thus, Jason might not realize that the server might use a clean slate after the water changes.  In other words, Jason might not do so, because he doesn't realize that such could be useful.  Or maybe he doesn't mind people living in towns that got built before the water changes.  I mean, I've called living in the towns with well clusters 'cheating' since the update, but it's not like there's a rulebook that I can refer that logically proves the word 'cheating' as exactly accurate.  So, if Jason doesn't mind people living in the old towns it's not like there's an airtight case to get made which should thoroughly convince all rational people that no one should live there anymore.
