View the game without playing

Just curious, but is there a way to view the game without being IN the game? Just to observe? I love watching the interesting and creative things people build, and it would be fun to see if people actually used that rail car you built a lifetime ago, or if that town still exists, or if the next town over built a huge shrine or something.

Fascinating game.

Twitch or YouTube.  You can also watch your own lives via moving a file from your recorded games folder to another folder and then loading the game.
