Onehouronelife players are bad

Im not saying all players are bad ofcourse not the major part of the players die so easy as eve
i am trying to eve and like all girls
get to age eleven if they even can and then starve for no reason
its really sad how low the skill level of the players in the game is

Re: Onehouronelife players are bad

I lost such a nice camp spot when my three surviving daughters died before getting to fertile age, it was sad. I wish I could've gone back there, I really liked the place. My camp was surrounded by wild berry bushes, and yet, all my girls starved, with a bunch of berry bushes left unpicked...

I wish I could've taught them, but there is only so much I can do for their survival. In my lonesome, I crafted an axe and chopped my way to the twin iron veins, hoping some other camp finds those, at least.

Anyways, perhaps the game is at the constant stage of newbies due to the high rate of people leaving, so those who could've been the next above average players, have already moved on. I don't know. I only know that the game is brutal for first time user experience. Although really cool, too.

Re: Onehouronelife players are bad

they just waddle off suicidally.
they starfe slowly right next to food.
i sometimes say '"please dont forget to breathe" ingame to total newbies.

the game teaches mostly by imitation, but on very low populations theres noone to imitate.

Re: Onehouronelife players are bad

It's been a few weeks since I played, but my impression was that there were not many opportunities to practice early game. There were few Eves compared to mothers in established towns, and it seemed like the mothers who set out from their homes to do their own Eve run were frowned upon. So it wouldn't surprise me if the knowledge of how to survive in Eve camps is lower than how to survive in higher tech towns.

Re: Onehouronelife players are bad

Its great when old people or those born as men take on the teacher role more often. When I'm playing as a woman and get a baby that is new I always try to teach however once I start my lesson I pop out another kid, then another. And its really not easy to teach when you are raising multiple kids but when you don't have that responsibility then it's much easier.

Sometimes I get the feeling that the OHOL community is not the best gaming community out there...

Re: Onehouronelife players are bad

yeah they learn to stab before to water bushes

back in the day each game was a grind, like no one made a city, if they did you didnt found it just by die once or twice
people had to survive in the forest
ever since most people die of starvation even if they dont want to

but i seen streamers give up quite fast as the game is a bit unforgiving

Playing OHOL optimally is like cosplaying a cactus: stand still and don't waste the water.

Even in cities, Kids die in their 20s.

But to be fair, Casual/New Players probably don't have zoom-out.  You can barely see your surrounding, Finding food is a lot harder for them.

I've been seeing a lot of Ziv families, Seems like you're doing well enough to me. Focus more on the kids that live than the ones that die.

Re: Onehouronelife players are bad

always ring bells.
never abandon a bell for a war campaign, just defend and grow/feed instead.
an attacker most likely has lower yum than a defender, so the attacker will always starve while being hunted.

sure, it risks the life of your city to ring a bell at smaller population (hey,  just make your own population bigger then). but just think about the hundreds of greedy newbies, who waste their lifes, and the lifes of their babies, failing to march 500 to 3000 tiles to even reach you. the vast mayority fails, or just rides on a horse, letting at least 4 babies /die.

ringing the bell is cheap mass murder, you dont even have to hunt most of the meople whos death you cause indirectly.
and you almost certainly get free cloth and horses from people who got close, but not quite there (in large enough numbers)

if a bell town lacks food or otherwise is poverpopulated, just scout around uit, you mostl ikely find a fuckton of corpses with great loot, and a lot of food (in camps in rouhgly 200 distance to any bigger town)
