Just had an entire family eaten by a single bear that some jackoff spawned for the fun of it. It ate our last girl and now everything we did for the family meant nothing.

Not gonna argue against your complain, it´s a dick move. However, bear countermesures are pretty easy:

a) Stand over an object. Bears can´t attack you if you are standing over an object.
b) Make bow and arrows. Kill bear. (Kill griefer but curse him first)

I think our problem was new players who didn't know the emergency bear contingency plan lol. I sprinted out of town to make arrows, and by the time I got back it was just carnage.

Yeah thats usually what happens. The brightest ones hide in the berry farm while everyone else just run around the bear.

yeah thats been my experience, some experienced player says "stand on items", two or three people run off to make arrows and everyone else stands there on nothing typing about the bear and getting murdered and you come back to a mass grave of bloody bones
