So, ignore me if there is already a feature like this in the game, but I think it would be cool if it said "ally" instead of "no relation" once you establish peace between two families.
Admittedly, I have not been in enough families with peace pacts to know whether this is already a thing in-game.

Ally, and Foe.
It would be quite useful.
If you ever enter Pea (Helkama turns into random name) family, you need the lottery ticket picked up. My baby names given can be absolutely random.
"Are you fueled with peasoup or why you keep running off from temperature tile?"

This is a great idea.
There should also be a neutral option, if war/peace has not yet been declared between two families.

+1 to the "this is a great idea" response of the forum people.
The neutral option is what we already have, "No Relation"

I aim to leave behind a world that is easier for people to live in that it was before I got there.

I mean there should be a real difference between families at peace, families at war, and neutral families. A neutral family is unknown - they might be friend or foe.
War should need to be declared to kick off full scale agressions. Or peace could be offered instead, disabling warswords and enabling cursing.

I just declared peace with a player from another family. We'd been raised side by side our entire lives by two Eves. I knew we were both over 55 but... nothing happened. No way to know if it worked or not. So we just told all the young'uns it worked and died. No warswords in our vilage, so...

New to forums; been a player for awhile. Great game! I cast my support for this idea. Really liked DestinyCall's add info too.

I'm flying high. But the worst is never first, and there's a person that'll set you straight. Cancelling the force within my brain. For flying high. The simulator has been disengaged.

Kinda building ideas off this. A 'War" mechanic to mirror the Peace mechanic would be interesting. Instead of an older member from each family declaring peace, maybe you need 2-3 older members of the same family to declare war. Then just make swords not work on other families until war is declared.
This would make sense, imo. War should be agreed upon by multiple members. War should never be literally 1 asshole running around with a bunch of swords, slaughtering anyone who crosses their path. That's not war; that's a serial killer lmao.

I wonder if a mod could do this?

I definitely agree with the idea of war being a decision made by a group, not by a single person.
With a bilateral declaration of war, the two elders are acting as representatives of their respective families. With a unilateral declaration of war, I could see a single elder declaring war with the support of at least two other adult family members. Everyone holding swords and crying for war. I think it is important that elders be involved in these important decisions. It feels very fitting, especially in a tribal setting. We look to our elders for wisdom and leadership.
