Video Guide for Diesel Engine

Written guides exist already, but some people had difficulties with them since the process to this one is a bit complex, so here's a vid:

Hopefully at least someone will find it helpful.

Re: Video Guide for Diesel Engine

take a buttered cooking form...

actually the extra small and big pulley can be done much earlier as the rubber is very useful for carts, they last longer, they carry more stuff, 6 firewood, or 2 tools and 4 cut stones is op
and i would even say that keeping one just for that is the best, also planting some rubber, im quite sure im the only one who planted rubber last arc
and that made a town furthest away from deserts the best rubber producer

stacking steel if for the showoffs, just put one ach tile and it goes faster, even splitting in 2 stack is good cause your head covers the bottom one but you can go for the top then swap next

also i would argue about the 1 tile newcommen, while you save 1 step on first two, you still need to put it down, so you  actually didn't save anything at all
but you got more space in 2 rows, and you put it down without going around the newcommen

lot of times the people walkign aroudn the forge delay you more than making 2 new kilns and a new newcommen
especially if you don't have the newcommen yet, just go and make the new kilns on empty location, it's still takes less time and most importantly less disturbance than doing in mid city where babies walk around and people store their beans and rabbits

Re: Video Guide for Diesel Engine

Thank ya. The engine has always escaped me because I've never really gotten the chance to see the method to the madness. Its easier to see it being done rather than just using onetech and struggling hard.

Learning how to build the loom was probably a great starting point for me, before the engine, because I know how to make some of the newcomen machines now at least.

And knowing the oil game helps too!

Great video! I've never made an engine before as I just couldn't wrap my head around it, but after seeing it actually done step by step it just clicked, and I made one in my very next life!

Re: Video Guide for Diesel Engine

Aww, thanks for kind words, everyone! I feel useful now smile

Pein, i disagree with the 2 tile newcommen setup. It does feel less cramped, but it's also less efficient.Iif we count all the steps taken between heating up, processing, dropping down, returning to point 0, we have:

For the 1 0 0 1 setup: 4 tiles taking 2 steps, 8 tiles taking 3.4 steps, 8 tiles taking 4.8 steps steps.

|     |4.8|3.4|3.4|4.8|     |
|4.8|3.4|2.0|2.0|3.4|4.8|
|     |for|ste|ste|new|     |
|4.8|3.4|2.0|2.0|3.4|4.8|
|     |4.8|3.4|3.4|4.8|     |

For the 1 0 1 setup we have: 6 tiles taking 2 steps, 8 tiles taking 2,8 steps, 2 tiles taking 4 steps

|     |2.8|2.0|2.8|    |
|2.8|2.0|ste|2.0|2.8|
|     |for|ste|new|    |
|2.8|2.0|ste|2.0|2.8|
|     |2.8|2.0|2.8|    |

That said, the newcommen doesnt last long, so we only got time to process 8-9 things tops. That's 21.6-25 steps for 1 0 0 1 setup and 17.6-20.4 steps for 1 0 1 setup.
It doesnt matter at all for the hammer part, since it has to be used twice regardless, but when working on oil, the closer version lets you craft that one extra pipe with the limited water that the villege peobably has.
