Now that all the servers have been wiped and composting has been changed to be finite and new Eves spawn very far away from any other people, where do we go from here? How do we establish towns and cities? How do we sustain them? Will it ever be possible to advance up the tech tree any more, given how difficult it is to sustain a population of people? Do we just farm berries forever? Will one troll be able to wipe out an entire city solely with a shovel? Currently, when a lineage dies out, that’s it. Game over. You’ll never see the stuff you made ever again and probably no one else ever will either. Are we doomed to scrape the bottom of the tech tree forever now? Not complaining, just looking for ideas and useful input here.

well, for one thing, i've twice spawned near other people since this happened. Once i was the baby of a feral eve, but a small camp with firemaking equipment and planted soil.
In a more recent game there was a corpse nearby of someone who had accomplished very little, but someone had been there. Even if the range is larger, camps and artifacts will be scattered around.
I am having a hell of a time getting kids to survive to adulthood. I don't know how so many people die.
I often live to 60 with no descendants left around, very frustrating.
I'll tell you what I tell all my children: Make basket, always carry food.
Listen to your mom!

I have been wondering that too. I wonder if the current distance between each Eves's spawns is too much. We'll have to wait a a few days or a week of playing to find out.

He hasn't made an update to spread the Eve's out from one another yet, that might happen next update but who knows.
I don't think the composting thing is that big of a deal. One spot of fertile soil gets you 5 soil, plus 3(or 4?) worms, and each worm lets you compost once, and compost gives 3 soil. Plus I just learned this but apparently you can use a shovel on an empty fertile soil location to get one last soil too. So that is 15(or 18) soil from a single fertile soil location. Fairly often you find clumps of them together too.
If you use the soil wisely it should last a few days. If you get horses to move faster and explore out further away from the city, you can probably double that time without much effort. With effort searching for soil you can probably quadruple the time you last. So if you are on horse and you are searching for all soil within 2 minutes of your village, I am fairly confident you can survive two weeks before you ran out of soil(assuming your not wasting it).
At the moment, a single family can't even survive a full day. So forgot about the numbers I am giving for max efficiency, even wasting a lot of the soil, you are probably fine if someone knows how to compost.

I'm having a hard time keeping my mom alive! I get born as a boy, my mom and siblings die, and I end up dying of old age in a camp nobody will ever use...
Anyway, I think people have forgotten basic survival skills, and/or came into the game late and never really had them.
I like to go by "Eve Scripps" and name my kids after medications

Yeah I think we're back to early March like meta. Lots of death and re-spawning, waiting for competent Mom and community. Exciting when it works though.

I tried to help people to set up their first camps easier. Check out my Guide on how to start correctly. Hopefully some people can utilize this to spark civilization easier.
