Okay, I read my other topic about this and people weren't happy.
So I'll tweak my idea a bit to be more suitable.
First of all, let's talk about glasses:
They can be, as someone suggested, a hat slot, wearable item, that zooms out your field of vision.
Idk how much, but it zooms it out.
This only works if the glasses had been made that way.
You can make glasses purely for style, but before assembling the glasses, you can etch the lens:
no etching - regular glasses (no buff, just for style)
1 etch - "reading" glasses (Zooms out field of vision a bit)
2 etches - "prescription" glasses (negates vision problems)
As you read in the 2 etch part, there are still vision problems
But there isn't problems from birth, but vision deteriorates as you get old
How much it deteriorates is different, but everyone get it.
But wouldn't players just die then?
well, how to you get the elder status then?
Vision deteriorates at the beginning of becoming an elder.
Post your thoughts and ideas, how to improve it
I enjoy the simpler things in life, but only if I'm calm.

I would like to see this and even other illnesses such as diabetes, overweight, malnutrition, cancer, flu, albinism, fever and whatnot. Some of them we born with, some of them we contracts. Some of them are neutral, some of them are bad.
As you suggested, it would be good if we could heal it somehow, it would create a lot of new jobs.
To avoid sudden infant death, they could reward the players who survive until old age (like that fitness points), so we gain benefits next life like running slightly faster, having more tool slots, foods bars and whatnot. And punish who dies with a illness, the younger the person is, the bigger the punishment ( so next life you have less tool slots, food bars, run slightly slower...), Even without this, I think people would play having an illness, to see how it’s like and of course we would be different, people might help us more and spoil us as an kid, giving good equipments.
I think it’s a very cool idea, although very complex to do, requires a lot of work and Jason may have more important things on his list. Anyway your idea is very cool. I can imagine myself working at a lab producing insulin, cough syrup and etc. xD

You could also install a mod such as the Hetuw mod instead of a gimmick like glasses.

This is a game where most modding is cheating. Vision assist *is* cheating.

You are cheating yourself if you don't play with Zoom mod.

I am usually against modding in all type of games and especially multiplayer ones (i dont hate people that use them, i just dont like using them) however i only find an exception with OHOL because if *you* dont have it you are putting yourself in a disadvantage against others that do use it.
It kinda reminds me of 2B2T, where hacks are possible but no allowable, however if you dont have them with you are probably going to be punished by other players that do have it. So why be on a disadvantage?
