Signs and directions

I've made this suggestion several times, we need to be able to easily craft signs for navigation!! How nice would it be to arrive to a city with a name of it on it's entrance. Everyone would enjoy having signs that navigate them throughout the world, it's been a year asking for the same thing, just do it please.

The game will never become any good without this particular update.

Re: Signs and directions

people have started to use Waystones to post organizational things.
I had been in a city that had 12-way stones in a line and all were Laws of the village.
(and pretty good laws if you ask me. GJ to the maker)

You could use Waystones as Signs.  just make sure the map will have the same location as the stone so the annoying distance words don't appear upon clicking the way stone.

Re: Signs and directions

I've noticed people building waystones outside the bakery in bell towns conferring a name on the city. "Welcome to Rabbiton, a peaceful village" for example, short for rabbit-town because it was built on a prairie biome with lots of rabbits.

People also make signs sometimes, but characters are very limited and making letter stock is an expensive pain in the butt.

Re: Signs and directions

I find the letter making process pretty cool but needing so many skewers is ridiculous and makes the sign making process a pain in the ass and not even achievable in a lifetime depending on what you want to write.

Maybe one skewer could make infinite letters.

Re: Signs and directions

I foresee easily craft-able signs being used by children (actually in real life that is) to make signs everywhere that say F#CK , N#GG#R, or some such thing. Such players have a short attention span and if it takes an hour to make a rude sign that will give you only 10 seconds of a laugh they rarely bother.

I am sad that serious players don't take the time to make a real sign though with a town name, or get half way and quit. I suppose that's because serious players are 100% busy just trying to keep the town from collapse at all times.

Re: Signs and directions

You can do the bad word spam anyway with paper and pencil. Just keep the base the same and have one skewer make a pile of straight stock and a pile of curvy stock, both infinite.
We could also have papers nailed to a sign next to letters, each paper taking up 1 letter space. I think that would keep grief down to an extent.
