I really hate Zucc Town right now, it has bad aura, I see people either mass murder themselves or don't do much work or gather iron, probably resources are too far, but they still keep coming to repopulate it.
Should people migrate from one town to another after couple of days/weeks or stay in bell towns as long as possible? Why apoc so often when we can just migrate a little?

If you don't like a particular town, you can leave. I don't think bells should decay. They naturally stop ringing when the town dies out.
Offline
Literally why?
They take 25+ hours to build vs an apocalypse which takes 24.
Just don't play in towns you dislike instead. Really easy fix for this issue.

Playing OHOL optimally is like cosplaying a cactus: stand still and don't waste the water.

I feel like the new content I crave isn't decay, but something wild and fun. When I first saw this game I thought "3 years from now I would spawn in towns with robots and zoo's people would do crazy things and live wild fun lives". Now I don't hold that same hope, lately since yum, the game has shifted to what is broken and how can I balance every little thing, lets not add things all willy nilly like its a game.
I want something that sets my dirt town apart from all the rest and not just a "tree garden" or look this town has a yellow building isn't that exciting kids. If the game feels stale jason gave us the apoc and if Zucc town blows people won't leave that is this arcs pleb city only the apoc will change it.
TLDR: telafiesta wants crazy update like lassoing penguins and jungles have tigers.

The "Don't like it just leave" argument is a bit bias.
Oftentimes you only get a choice between two late game cities that are near identical. Goodluck leaving because your splinter lineage will either die out or run back to bell.

If everyone else wants to be at the bell, that is their choice, just as leaving the bell was yours. It is selfish to want to take away their choices.
Find or build a better place ... then people will have a reason to stay.

Victim blaming, Nice. He isn't saying he expects people to stay, He is saying that he doesn't expect them to stay. Do you honestly think he can build a "better place".
This is why people are griefing and trying to start the apocalypse. Because it's impossible to get away from the cities once they are built.

Not wanting to play in the same cities over and over. Nothing having any real meaning.

If nothing has any real meaning, maybe it isn't the bell town that is the real problem.

If a bell rings in a forest, and no one is around to hear it, does it still make a sound?
No need for decay really imo.

I'm flying high. But the worst is never first, and there's a person that'll set you straight. Cancelling the force within my brain. For flying high. The simulator has been disengaged.

No, but it symbolizes stagnation.

My point is that if the real problem is "stagnation" or lack of meaning, it won't be solved by allowing bells to decay. That might prevent people from reviving a town you don't like anymore, but it won't resolve your existential crisis.
Bell towns die out naturally when no one rings the bell.
Changing the bell so it breaks after a set period of time seems both unnecessary and cruel. You are putting a hard time limit on all advanced settlements and preventing explorers from reviving lost cities.

You don't think stagnation is an issue?

*laughing* How did this bell ring again?

Maybe the apocalypse is the solution after all.
I mean big city don't deliver new things, there's a lack of technology. We've got everything, a car (useless, I can't even get from Punkytown to Zucc with one use of kero, I tried), aeroplane (to where?), radio. Radio was something new, because for the first time I saw people from one town communicated with other town, until someone moves the transmitter, very clever… you must have transmitter close to receiver to communicate with other towns and if you move radio from sight people will tear the parts, which happened, congrats.
What's more, a large pen, a large 'castle' (unnocupied), new houses which contains the same (someone build storage tools next to loom), someone build new smith closer to fire, which was smashed (as I once wrote happens with new smiths). So what more can be done, a zoo maybe, but... there are none rare animals. Maybe dog pen. Nothing more to build.
So yes it's stale. It's time to add more technology and improve existing ones (no plows, no lighters?), it's not rift anymore.

I am reminded of the Rift.
Apocalypse is not the right answer to stagnation. It creates a different kind of meaninglessness, since building impressive cities and long roads is pointless if they will get wiped tomorrow. And repeatedly getting thrown back into primitive camps with fewer options will get just as stale as always being born in the same old cities filled with clutter.
Personally, I think racial restrictions and tech tree stagnation are at the center of this problem. Racial restriction mean isolated villages are doomed, so we must seek out bells to survive. Tech tree stagnation means that an established bell town runs out of new content quickly. Starting splinter camps and triggering the apocalypse is just a bandaid. They are not addressing the core issues that lead to towns becoming less fun over time.
