something very wrong is going on with my food meter in game right now. nothing I eat will give me more than five pips. the entire town is eating like savages.

Same issue here, between one and four pips from everything I ate. My son got to 19x multiplier before age 30. The yum bonus is also very small relative to what it should be. Everyone I talked to had this issue.

our town literally depleted itself of food in a matter of ten minutes, this is catastrophic

I opened an issue on the OHOL github https://github.com/jasonrohrer/OneLifeData7/issues/639
(Should this be in program issues instead of content issues?)

It was all an experiment guys, nothing to see here.

For the time being, I think we have enough content.

1. Experimenting on people without their consent or warning that such is an experiment is unethical.
2. I don't find it likely that there exists any sort of care with respect to any results drawn from this.
3. If it was an experiment, what were the hypotheses trying to get tested, and where was the control group?
Plain and simple the temporary change involved consisted of Jason disrespecting players.
Oh, also players got disrespected more clearly by getting compared to a hypothetical frog, with a normative claim that players should experience something like the hypothetical boiling frog.
Boiling the frog: Eating bonus down to 3 (was 4), but using curve to set bonus to 4 for Eve and first few generations. foodScaleFactor constant, for now.
Danish Clinch.
Longtime tutorial player.

I feel like jason is falling into the same trap that most game devs do.. attempting to balance the game around the elite few rather than the masses. OHOL doesnt need a food nerf, it needs some other way to keep the no-lifers and full time players busy... all this kind of garbage does is chase out the normal and new players.
