Hello!
I'm very new to this game, but I immediately felt that I was missing a feature - To be able to switch between servers easily.
So I created this, a very basic program which makes things a little less tedious.
It allows you to choose which game server you want to join, and lets you add custom servers so you can easily switch between playing the main server and an unofficial one, without having to edit any files.
I don't know if anyone but me has wanted a program like this, and I can't say for certain that it's going to work on every machine. But I thought that since I've already made it for myself, that I would share it here.
Download Link
Latest version: 0.1d
Instructions:
0. Make a backup of your game folder. (This application rewrites the game files needed in order to change between servers)
1. Extract the .zip into the game folder
2. Run the .exe
You don't have to open the game .exe, just hit connect and the game will start. (It might take a second to rewrite the files)
If you have any comments or questions please let me know. If someone is interested in extending this, or making it prettier I can post the code.

does this let you choose between custom servers?

It doesn't have a premade list of custom servers (right now) but if you add a custom server manually it will appear in the list every time you open the application, yes.

also i think is enough to backup the settings folder, copy out or better just zip it

Yes, you're correct. Well technically, it also adds files in a folder called CustomServers, in order to remember the custom servers you add.
But nothing else should be affected.

Nice work, custom launchers like these are very convenient. For users on linux (or windows users who like the look), here is a link to the other launcher referenced above: https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=1047

Oops... Didn't realize offline servers were marked as offline in the server list. The current version wont start when one of the public servers is offline. I'll fix this and update the link.
Edit: Fixed

If I may make a suggestion OP.
Can you add an option to simply go back to the default setting (where useCustomServer.ini = 0)
Especially for people who would rely on this tool and don't actually know how to go back to the default setting if they need it.
Thanks a lot for the tool. I love it

Only to eventually discover He did not create the world he always wanted, but the world he was forced to create.

I noticed when I use the server select a lot of random tiles are not loading (shows white with squiggly lines). Also, how do we check if it works?

Almost sure this has nothing to do with the server selector as all it does is edit a couple of files in settings and set the address for the connection.
This is most likely an issue with graphics settings (rendering)
I personally set my targetFrameRate.ini=30 and countingOnVsync.ini=0 (Both files can be found in the Settings folder within the game folder)
Another reason may be that the game needs to update; I've had some visual glitches when I ran the game without it being updated. So try running the game normally first (from default launcher); it may show you it's updating. Then go back and launch from selector.
Hope this helps, and if not check the "known bugs" section of this forum maybe there's something there that does.

Great to see another take on the server selector!
I just wanted to clarify that my "ohol-launcher" is not "for linux" but cross-platform so it does work on Windows and Linux just the same. I have not yet tried on Mac but it should be possible to get it working there as well.
It is build with electron and open source.
