with the current situation the wells deplete fast and people cant stop it from happening. you end up with an empty well which blocks the way for 10 hours. most civilizations dont live so far.
Dont build wells, simply dont. Cisterns between distant ponds can store 10 water, you win a water each time the pond is not full
build a cistern and a fence next to it two tiles away, this allows for horse run with poaches, fill poaches, fill cistern, go back to farm.
ponds got visual indication, wells dont. ponds can be filled if somebody takes last sip, wells dont.
i see too many well walls blocking the farm area
until things wont change, just dont do this, once babies run around, they fck every well up. put it further and make sure you control the refill, then is okay, but you got to be crazy to think you gonna usethat well three hours later.

Definetly agree, I try to teach every civ that cisterns are superiors if you have horses. Sadly, most of the time, when I try to stack the stones for the cistern when I come back it is changed into a shallow well.

Wells generate the same ammount of water as a pond, you can store 16 units of water in a tile with a cart, backpacks, and pouches; but you can only store 10 units with a cistern.
Just make more pouches, instead of cisterns. What a retarded conversation.

wells store 0 as noobs always deplete it, 10 units means ponds can generate more once is full, carts are movable and griefers go for it

yeah, agree with that
in every still populated town i come into, wells are always dry,
if one gets lucky then one well is still with water, if it's a deep well that is, shallow wells are 100% dry
in whole i encountered only few towns with cisterns
the only wells filled with water are in towns void of any populace
cistern is always better than a well because it doesn't break, you can't break it, if it is empty you always can fill it with water, a dry well remains for a long time just that - dry
but people don't build cisterns mainly for one reason only, it's the bowl of plaster, complicated to make apparently
maybe the situation with wells would improve if there was a sign how much water is still available in the well,
someone made a suggestion about that already, it did get 25 votes https://www.reddit.com/r/OneLifeSuggest … r_is_in_a/

I think that the well can act as a cistern too.
We can re-fill manually... Once, I have miss-click and put water in the well...
But with the cistern, everybody knows that we must refill one day or another... this is its purpose!
But ya, I'm totally for it as in big town, there are sometime a ridicule amounts of wells!
sorry for my english, but you know, not everyone is british or american... I'm french by the way (the best country in the world!)

i think you can break the cistern with a pickaxe, for example you got 4 ponds near the farm, everybody gonna use it
you got 3 ponds further, somebody can fill the cistern time to time can even act as a small farm with compost and seeds, can be a full job for someone to fill cisterns, regenerating water

Cisterns are dumb though, they don't make ANY water?
At least the wells make a pittance of water every 10 hours or whatever.

full pond doesnt generate water, so each time is full you lose a water
a cistern and a bowl can make more water near a pond than most wells in long term
never expect people to be smart
yes, make a well but not near the farm
and control the flow in your lifetime
depleted cisterns can be refilled
also dont put seed row in middle of farm, put it further
noob defence is important, if you put milkweed farm in other biome, 70% of noobs never gonna find it
dont gear up any kid, let them make their own clothes or find it somewhere
if you got a well, a noob depletes it before you upgrade so you made 10 water, and your family will be dead in 10 hours, expect the worst
