In my prev game, I was born to a family called Gold.
In that family, was a mayor, named Ash Gold. He was my great uncle.
He came up with the idea, of using PLAYING CARDS as MONEY.
And so, I'm spreading the word of Ash Gold:
Use playing cards as money, it makes business possible and makes the game more fun, once you're advanced.
Making cards is hard enough to be money, but easy enough to be money.
It doesn't use gold, which is very rare, but it doesn't use something common.
Once again: Use PLAYING CARDS as MONEY

There are not many things you can own in OHOL - cloths, backpack and anything that fits in it and that is all.
I don't think we will see any sort of money in this game, there is not enough time to hoard material belongings or argue about their price.
Most of time you are alive and well or dead in less than a minute.

Blank Map can also be used as money.
Maybe one life is about time, but generation survival may be about intel, and space-related too.
How much Blank Map for a bucket of latex ? 5 ?

Ok.
I just thought of it: I'll let people sell items to me, so they earn some money and others can buy or trade them

Why would there even be a need? Why would someone go trough the effort of spending precious time making transactions when you can just share?

Cuz we've been communist for too long, it's time for capitalism.

The biggest challenge is to set up a trustworthy chain of financial institutions that will last for generations.
Money must be widely acceptable and keep more or less same value.
Infinite map and fragile populations that die off so often don't help with that.

Playing cards are play money as there is no-one backing it up and what does it cost to make card deck? One (1) straight branch and one (1) indigo.
You should rather use straight branches to trade items as they have more value than the cards.
Also the cards clutter villages so much, never again!
