Mixing for some period of time a.k.a. marriage

I have idea how to connect marriages without incests, make war/peace declarations useful and nerf specializations just a little.

Families want new genes in pool, but also wanna remain unique. So, after a peace, one family would welcome a female from second family. She can marry someone from them (both parties need to say yes), after that she will lose her home and gain theirs. Her offspring (1-2 only) will posses usual face, but with dad's skin tone. That will add mixed looks, just by repainting existing ones. That kids will posses mom's specialization, however their next generation will assimilate with locals, lose the skills and gain the husband specialization. During war possibility for marriage is closed, after marriage there will be a cooldown for new one (couple hours). Eve's can't mix. Two families from same race can still mix, but just for roleplay.

Or even more simple, sons can be special and girls will always look as their mom so won't go down the line.

I would enjoy having some Adams spawn same age as girls in towns, with their own name. Marriage would be just a partnership giving a different name to kids. That would solve the incest issues since the third gen would be around 28 min away. Other benefits to partnerships should include some family home bonuses.

Oooh, but Adams will exclude need for peace/war...

Funny, I've missed a reason for war. OK, prepare yourselves! A family can invade other town and own females. By that I mean the invaders can propose 'surrender or die'. If both parties agrees, their offspring will have (reverse to peace) moms skin tone and specialization, but dads family looks and surname.

I think every puzzle is now in good place. wink

It's not a proper war if there aren't sides. If you are born to the enemy next, you can destroy them from the inside quicker. We would need daily/weekly team locked people so we have a proper war. That would need 2x of each race except whites so 6 groups.

We could still have tribes with different family names but the same tribe. Honestly, if the race restrictions are thrown out then it would be fine but rn wouldn't work switching left and right the colours. Special sons could help but won't take over.

Locking players in family would be too much, people want variety. However, during war you cannot spawn in your opponents family. For peace you still need two elders, while war can start after first posse kill.

It would just be peace with 3 fams and war with 3 other (whites are useless so they could be a filler when the server is getting full)
So it wouldn't be locked in one family it would be locked in 3. And if they die then the new Eve families.

We got around 50 people at any point so should be enough for 6 smaller families. And dunno like 300-500 unique per day which covers the entire day would make that into 150-150 both sides. The only issue would be how many times those people return during the week. But I guess there are always new people who didn't play since the start of a week, so they could strengthen the current underdogs.

But yeah, it isn't fun without a proper dodge/aim system. We really need either a sport or arena combat and a team-based siege/fort battle kind of thing. The posse makes sense for internal flght, but in between families we would need a proper chance for both sides and a way to wager resources and gain other advantages, possibly kill off a lineage. IT would make it easier to know who is friend and who is foe. Right now we just have some real griefers, some soft griefers, then all the thieves, but on the other side we got the people with hero complex, judge complex.

I liked the duels, especially the honourable opponents who don't just backstab.

We never had wars, it was always a slaughter for Roleplay reasons.
We never had real objective, a war started by people 30 years older than you means nothing to a new baby.
Right now some people start a war and people are so far they don't care, no benefit anyway, the smarter players who can find others rather keep the peace.
Also we can't balance out between ourselves. You can't compare a newly started town to a long line, and you won't team up with others to have balanced chances, you just use what you got, and if it's more than what they have it's a win. We don't know the numbers, we got no information.

If you would be on Red team and you know the Blue team can attack, you would care to defend, when you share no goals with them, can't help them, then you could avoid them or fight them. If it lasting for whole week it would matter.

In the rift we had this manhunt, our family was 90% of the population, we hunted down 6 locations of the 4 well sites, we missed a few and a bit later all our dead people ended up at their side as babies, some of them didn't care, others griefed them internally, and after the numbers changed, people just changed their goal to total opposite, killing the family with the lower population.

My reason for war is silly, but if we get 6 families, 3 allies vs 3 opponents, what would prevent people from just staying in home, exchanging goods with allies and avoiding opponents? Still no really reason to fight with them beside forced rules, rules that won't fit into OHOL, where you need to do everything by yourself.

OK, another idea. Let's say number of players on server are low, the last fertile female in family dies. In that situation doomed family gains automatically info they're doomed, after which they can declare war, or war starts automatically. They can go and fight with others with war swords, without a need for posse. If they gain advantage over other family, they can have a truce - after that the war is over and invaders gain one fertile female for their homeland, that will continue family lineage.

well, we could have war tokens which would be needed for certain upgrades
we could have back to back challenges if it's like an arena fight between one or more people, war logistics sucks, hard to move people, they get too old or babies get in the way so teleporting groups into an arena and back would be better. and if we don't die in a war it would also help.
that's more like a sport type of event I guess.

if you can't interact with the objects your opponent makes then it would be annoying to have them near.

all we got is forced rules big_smile
to be fair, we can't do it ourselves, you won't see 5 people run into 5 others, then next-generation 10 into 10 or such. Al you see is one group killing others then the others might retaliate, gets over fast.

Maybe the map could be changed so certain zones contain certain resources. With a decent income. Controlling it would mean resources over time so that's a reason to fight for and get greedy.

But at least with predefined teams, you get a continuity so helping your team helps you in your next life. Avoiding others can be done, but then at least we could have a reason to wall cities.
