Fires should give less warmth.

Crucify me if you will but honestly fires being the best spot for babies is one of the reason people can just ditch a kid and not interact with it which fundamentally should not happen. Instead, we should be encouraging children and mother bounding time and those first three minutes should be about trying to teach or at least not be about afking for 3 minutes of each and every life.

Things that should be changed to help encourage mommy + baby time.

-Stop draining mothers when a baby doesn't eat. Yes, this encourages "skilled" play between mother and baby but encourages things such as just ditching babies at fires. By removing this aspect we can at least freely carry the child around to different areas instead of choosing between big boi mode (holding the baby the entire time) or neglect mode (leaving the baby by the fire.)

-Fire has to stop being the meta choice for child raising. Fires being perfect for babies encourages us to leave them there instead of actually taking care of them. I know this is sort of a stupid idea but what if when a child drinks breast milk (specifically from the mother if we want to encourage mom to tend to HER child) they get perfect temperature. This of course degrades back down to area temperature afterwards but by removing some of the heat and placing it on mom (or a wet nurse) we're encouraging babies to be with someone instead of tossing your kid on a fire.

-Baby only clothing options? To prevent adults from wearing (or at least benefiting from them) we make something that dirties in say three minutes and requires washing (just dip in water and not use the water to prevent abuse) or you can have only the baby pick it up which is weird in and of itself but whatever. If we wanted a little humor for example maybe only elderly people can pick up diapers? This means both baby and grandma can bound over their shared preference in pants. This stops abuse in the form of adults deciding to wear them (unless old) and allows babies to wear them for X amount of time before losing the bonus due to dirty diaper.

Worlds oldest SID baby.

yea baby interaction currently needs some buff.

fully agree with the ideal heat if some one breast feeds it and to remove breast eating if not hungry.

We need stuff a baby can interact it, give it some toys, or even better allow interaction with some simple things like bowl to pick berry (but dont allow to eat it).

Re: Fires should give less warmth.

I kind of want to go back to the instant temp system (with temp running fixed of course) You couldn't dance on a fire for perfect temp, and you could tell which of two pieces of clothing were better by just swapping them, plus it removes the special exception for crossing biome boundaries.

Would run a bit counter to the temp bonus for breast feeding.

Swaddling cloth. Movespeed: 0%.

Only afk adults would wear it voluntarily... and they are basically overgrown babies.

Re: Fires should give less warmth.

Babies in backpacks. I've been saying this for years. Easy carry, easy feeding, you can show the bb around town and teach them, and you don't need to stop working to do it. Baby can keep warm inside of bp. More bonding. Ends the fire meta. Win-win!

Imagine this: You're born into a decently developed town. You're new. Your mom names you, then puts you in her bp. You watch her farm and learn from observing. You also learn the set-up of the town as she runs around. All the while she can narrate to you and teach you things about what she's doing. When you're hungry, you have to tell her so she can take you out of the bp for feeding.

When you're older, you know what her job is, and you know how to do it. Isn't that awesome? Or at least better than getting yeeted at the fire and saying f every once in a while to some neglectful mother you rarely see.

It promotes
-skilled playing with communication between mom and bb
-a more interesting and productive three minutes
-mom bb bonding
-teaching newbies

It's so perfect and yet Jason still won't add it...

People pick up babies too often, losing their pips. I'd say X mouth doesn't work properly, moms don't wait for babies F.

Re: Fires should give less warmth.

a simple fix would be that fires block movement, but easily abusable with kindling
the alternative would be  that fires slowly push you out, if there is no hot spot then bonuses worth it better, kinda weird you are sitting on the op of the fire

I am constantly saying 'X' to my mum when they pick me up too early. Hasn't seemed to catch on yet, it's too hard to communicate to new players. Maybe I should tell my kids in the future, and try and spread it that way, the same way F is.

It's also a (somewhat) valid way to yum-boost. It's better to yum-boost with hungry work, but the mechanic allows for it so it's valid. I don't like it, as people also use it to starve themselves, so it feels very alien to the gameworld.
