I'm sure even the Great Northern Bear enjoys ritual sacrifice or two.... He only cares for those who can pass his tests, and he tests only those that are able to overcome them. He is not pleased when one throws helpless babies to his minions. Doing so incites his wrath!
I heard it was 40 per official server.
Behold, the symbol of the Great Northern Bear!
So we have as 9 gods :
Northen Bear
Penguin
Spider (?)
Cactus
Horse of apocalypse
Fire
Weasel (?)
Carrot
MilkweedAnd none of them is original x)
That is the Great Northern Bear to you.
And yeah I was like... the bear is a symbol for Russia... Russia is very far north... Great Northern Bear!

Youre weak ass bear god only kills and kills! thats not a god that someone who wants to destroy everything. its more like a devil then a god!
The cactus god gives his holy fruit too those who believe in him! so the people will not die of starvation.
whats youre god doing hmmm. o yeah youre god is killing innocent people what a shame! you cant call that a god!
Not once have I called the Great Northern Bear a god. It is simply the will of the planet! With bears as it's minions, those that are weak are culled and those that are able to overcome the minions are granted strength, bravery, and fur to last generations. They are mere obstacles, a test, we must overcome. Overcoming and eating the heart of a bear will give you all such blessings. A cactus is a simple plant that everyone forgets about, but no one forgets a bear, sent by the Great Northern Bear, raiding your home and consuming your family.

Ha! I've been born to a village that had two cacti right next to it, and no one even cared about them. The moment a minion of the Great Northern Bear came through, everyone ran and panicked as they tried to fight it off. Even killing a member of our tribe. Fear the Great Northern Bear, respect the Great Northern Bear! May he grant us his blessing!
The minions of the Great Northern Bear may indeed be dumb, but they are to be feared, unlike your puny cactus god that does nothing other than occansionly bare fruit.

The penguins.
penguin is a coward and Always run away what a pathetic god!
The cactus god never runs!
Your puny cactus god is too dumb to move. The Great Northern Bear fears nothing. Neither man, nor fire, nor nature itself. Seek the Great Northern Bear's blessing, and your power will be unmatched.
But the soul of the Great Northern Bear will give you strength! Feed upon the heart of a bear and the Great Northern Bear will give his blessing!
Again Men have a use in being sterile. They can make long treks without have to deal with babies popping out. They can all work their whole life while the women have to juggle work and taking care of kids. And dedicated wet nurse isn't going to get as much work done to better the settlement.
On top of that, if dangerous animals need hunting or killed, send the boys because men are expendable. Griefer going about murdering? Send a man, because if they fuck up and die too? Oh well they are expendable. Need to make long treks into the dangerous wilderness with the possibility of starving or accidently stepping on a snake behind a tree (this happened to me once) send a man because, say it with me, men are expendable.
Idea just came to me, and it makes pretty good sense. At some point on the tech tree, why not allow the creation of signposts for messages. Instead of relying on word of mouth forever to give directions or instructions. That would be so insanely useful. One could designate certain areas for all to know, or give directions to where the important resources are, list a reminder on how to make important stuff for newbies like me.
I was in a village recently, we had a good thing going... too many boys though. We were almost wiped out until my sister was born. Anyways, near the end of my life, we needed more soil for our farm, but by then no one knew where to get reeds. I went searching everywhere, and when I had just given up due to my shortening life, I stumbled upon them.
Such a thing would have never happened if were able to make a signpost that said "Reeds to the south. About 6 screens away" or "Reeds to the south, follow the signs."
Somewhat similar idea I had, a man have to be in the vicinity of a woman before the women can start popping out babies. And Eves either are special (don't need men around to have) or Eves are spawned spawned with a paired Adam.
This could help create organized population control without wanton infanticide if communities set up men and women sections of town. When they want kids they can mingle a little until one pops out of the mom. Of course in practice that'd be hard to maintain XD
And now I'm imagined a guy walking into the women's section of town and all of a sudden there is an explosion of babies XD
Edit: I get the feeling this is probably already mentioned somewhere and not a new idea. Just saying I have thought of it.
I registered to the forum to tell my tale. I'm a new player who knows nothing except for the youtube videos I watched... and even then I never really soaked in the recipes.
So I died a few times... got abandoned a few times... starved to death some more... But I made it to 60 years once. And this is my story of my full life.
I was born a girl to a woman simply named Stalin. We didn't have last names in our village... and me no name at all. Stalin was a horrible neglectful mother. She set me by the village fire and never so much as fed me. My aunt raised me... which I unfortunately don't remember her name. She was a much better mom than my mom.
As I got older I did the only thing I knew how to do. Plant carrots and put them in baskets. That was my entire life. It was a simple life... but that's not what made it interesting. Eventually I got to the childbearing age. I went on to raise 7 children... and one as far as I know died an early death. The little brat didn't tell me he was starving. Anyways, my children's names were Sebastian, Lina, Reina, and Kid (Kidus) 1 through 4. I got lazy with my names ok? Atleast the little turds had names. My mother never gave me one. And Kid the third was the one who starved to death. In any case I made sure to instill our village values into them: "The top row is for seeds."
Sebastian never really talked much, but Reina and Lina argued all the time. One kept going on about her evil sister who stole her hat. Honestly, I don't remember which was which. They were just two bratty children in my eyes. They should be happy they even have clothes. I was naked my whole life. Real women don't need clothes.
Still as the years went on I eventually became a grandma... Honestly I don't remember my grandkids very much, but I always reminded them, "The top row is for seeds." I once promised them I would spoil them if I didn't forget about them. I did forget about them. And all that time... Reina and Lina would still go on and on about that stupid hat. Such bratty kids they were, even as adults.
Ah, once me and my cousin sent a child off to get water, we didn't expect her to actually return. And... I don't think I ever seen her again after that. No matter really.
So... soon my life came to an end... and I regretted my family. Sebastian never spoke with me, Lina and Reina continued to bicker. They even called me old, or mockingly said I looked 18. The turds. And the surviving Kids never named their kids. They were so much like my late mother, neglectful terrible mothers. So I planned to set off on a journey. To see the lands beyond our little carrot farm and die alone away from this terrible family of mine. I said my final words....
"I regret this family. I'm going to go away soon. Goodbye. And don't forget, the top row is for seeds. You horrible people."
And just then I died, never to get to set off on my journey... surrounded by my bratty children.
