best jobs to sort to others:
cutting butt logs
chopping bushes (if you dig them out, happens more frequently now that they plant a lot), branches, stumps
cooking eggs
making stew
make fences

just set up the pre-requisites, then tell a kid to do it
you just gather more with cart and dump it in a spot that is not used

other can be telling kids to pick berries in bowls
plant pine or maple in a line
make a road

make a road from branches and other stuff to a swamp and tell kids to fill some buckets with water

send them to gather, some are just new, not retarded so they can find stuff
show it once then watch them do it just point with something like a skewer or shaft

Agreed. Thanks for coming up with the list - I'm bad at thinking on my feet during the game when trying to teach a new player

Theyr'e supposed to be special.  When you see someone with a tattoo, you think, wow!

Within the constraints of the game (time, resources, etc) as well as the steam-pocolypse that is occurring this novelty will most likely never happen and will end up falling off the radar, much like cameras did.

Yeah, that's interesting.... means to start a tattoo shop, you need to find some gingers and do some trading.  Maybe find a ginger and trade them a tattoo for some salt water.  Tattoos look pretty striking on that pale ginger skin!

No please no, tattoos should not require the help of another family cuz then they will never get made

Especially now with the steam-pocolypse

While an ok idea in theory, how would you go about proving someone was a griefer to get this bonus?

It's this exact reason why I just stopped playing altogether tonight.

I have no issue with teaching ppl, however the sheer volume of new players makes it impossible to be a mom (or dad) and try to teach. so many dead kids...

Expert players generally use a zoom mod.  If you're relying on them, especially with respect to finding other towns, you might be relying on their use of a zoom feature or other features that you don't have in the default game.

I honestly prefer playing vanilla bc I find all the features of the mods distracting. Nothing against the mod creators, but I REALLY do not want to download a mod just for the sole purpose of locating other races and towns.

If it takes a mod to make the game playable for your moderate/expert players, to me that means something is critically wrong. (Looking at you, Bethesda...)

Did something happen to the "Family Specialization" News post? Or is it being revamped?

This update is clever but after playing the game people are just saying they're not black enough to enter scalding desert. I'm not sure thats the mentality you want.

The update you're thinking of is the "Family Specialization" update. Each race is specialized in their own biome, because each biome has unique/important items.

But why not both?

Using the emotes makes sense from an audible standpoint, however I think there are still enough people who enjoy spamming emotes that it would not always be helpful.

Both would be good, though. Maybe the /yoohoo (as overused as it is...) combined with a text cue?

#39 Re: Main Forum » Let's Prep For Jason's Whacko Tools Update! » 2019-10-25 23:19:20

I mean, what about "T?" for "tool needed" and "T!" for "tool fulfilled/can help with tool"?

Though a naked man holding a baby upside down looks like what, exactly?

This genuinely made me LOL.

RE this idea: I echo the statements of others and think this has great potential... My concern is that if you are wanting to have this be a cooperative experience and have ppl communicate with each other.. what if a mom is afk and can't bring her kid around to find a profession? Or the mom is just crap and doesn't help?

Trying to talk as a bb or child is difficult enough without having to add more speech requirements early on... Could there be some sort of command or macro or something like the emotes to help this?

And yes, I know many times another mom will adopt a kid with an AFK mom... But I know frequently there are new players who end up being a mom who don't know they need to do this. OR the mom legit is too absorbed in her own work and just abandons bb.

And maybe that's a challenge you intend us to figure out in game? Idk. Just my two cents.

And yeah. Rocks/sharp rocks should not be tools.

I played with zoom mod for a few lives and tbh it was overwhelming for me. I get I'm probably in a minority, but it's not too hard to remember where things are and navigate that way.

Can you make the shovel less wasteful when burying people? It's ridiculous to leave all those corpses and bone piles around on the ground.

THIS. A lot of people (myself included) really enjoy the role playing aspect of being able to bury your loved ones after they pass away... decorating their graves, giving custom headstones, making beautiful cemeteries... but right now if anyone sees you burying people they will start yelling at you or call you a griefer b/c you're wasting iron resources.

#43 Re: Main Forum » OHOL has become so boring & it makes me sad » 2019-10-13 00:01:16

I think the thing that makes it feel stale the most is that each town you're born into is roughly at the same spot in the overall timeline. Which, obvs. I think is kind of the point right now, since you're using the arc/rift to make a controlled experiment to smooth out edges.

But one of the things that I remember finding the most fun pre-arc was when you would have a string of early game lives (first few generations) and then you would get born into one of the really big cities. It was like "OMG. I can actually make things now and someone will be there to watch my kid!! I can get basic clothes and not have to also worry if I have enough food around me!!!" It was almost like a reward for living a few difficult lives.

Or, conversely, if you had lived a few consecutive later game lives (all in large towns) getting to pop out as an eve and actually **choose** your own location! Or, getting born as a 2nd/3rd gen where you get to really work on planning a town out.

I miss THAT diversity. The overlapping family timelines, where no one family was exactly the same. Right now, it's kind of like "Oh. different family name, but it might as well be the same thing because not much has changed. They have the same technology I had in my last life."

/shrug

I wouldn't say they're gone... but definitely fewer than there used to be.

In my 200+ hrs of playing this game, this has got to be one of the best role-playing I've had thus far as Bethel Ave. (you may not think it's funny... in which case, feel free to read someone else's thread smile ...)

http://lineage.onehouronelife.com/serve … id=5378837

When my character aged to his last stage, he was wearing a Santa hat and was at the campfire with the children. Suddenly, all the children started shouting "Santa!!" and one in particular kept asking where his present was.

So, naturally, I told my nephew I ate them all ("My tummy had the rumblies... that only your gifts could satisfy!" /devious).

That crushed his dreams.

I crowned one of the new male babies (wearing a very fitting red dress) as the new Santa. And all rejoiced as Baby New Santa said his first little "Ho ho ho..."

I then passed down my legacy as Santa and taught the baby everything I knew. "Make sure to bring hope to all.. by eating all of their gifts." My nephew immediately scolded me for teaching Baby New Santa bad things. I, then, shared with my nephew the secret I never thought I would share.

...

I stole the Santa hat off of someone else's murder grave.

...

My nephew started calling me a fraud... but was quickly interrupted by a woman shooting her twin sister with a bow and arrow because "Don't worry - she's my twin, so it's ok." My nephew forgot about my past transgressions and pleaded with me to run away to be safe.

I know, however, that it was my duty as the oldest town member to try and fix the situation if I could.

I went in the middle of the fight and told the crowd of people, "Now now now... everyone needs to just stop fighting..."

And with my dying breath, I uttered the best "last words" I've ever spoken in game.
"Or santa will haunt you in your dreams"

(I don't play with any mods and don't keep track of time, so the only reason why I consider this my favorite is because I had no idea how much time I had left...completely unplanned and yet still epic last words XD)

Idk - I feel like I see way more unnecessary worms in towns than I do milkweed seeds...I'm almost always finding worms in baskets or backpacks then needing to get rid of them. *shrug*

#49 Re: News » Update: The Posse » 2019-09-29 22:41:41

Just finished a life where I built a milkweed farm and was just barely able to pass it on to my great nephews before dying. Got to implement the new box-in-fence... gotta say, I love it!!

*edit* also, after having played this game for approx. 9-10 months now, I finally figured out how to register on this forum. XD Stoked to not just be lurking on all the posts now!
