We're coordinating to get multiple Eve quadruplets in the same spot so we can keep returning to the same spot on a populated server and see how large we can grow a town. Post some specific day/times and time zone you can start and I'll add them to the bottom of this post.
I'll be updating this post with times people are available, scheduled quads, and tips/strategies we come up with.
Remember, you just need to launch the line. You don't need to do a marathon session.
Things You Should Know:
- If you spawn as baby quads then /die and try again until you get eve
- Anyone can join the town or be quads. There will be blood so be watchful at all times.
Things To Try:
- If you spawn multiple sets of quads at the same time are they 250 tiles away from each other (8 line towns)?
Here is general availability of people willing to do quads (All converted to Pacific Time Zone). Message them on this thread to organize a game!

Common issue with configuration files not being respected is permissions.
I honestly have no idea what it means by "Chance to use: 20% (Last use is 100%)" (Usually on tools). So maybe you can either explain that or change it so people can understand.
This is how things like an ax breaking is calculated. Every use has a 20% chance for it to transition into a more broken ax where the last use is guaranteed that it will break. If I recall, each tool has four transitions before they break so you're guaranteed four uses and up to unlimited.
If you look at the tools you'll notice they start cracking in the transitions to let you know the end is near.
You could easily scale this to billions of current users.
Run multiple master memcachedb (or any memory+disk backup database) servers.
The server code knows what server to query based on x/y coordinates requested.
You can scale this to every hundred tiles if you need.
I've done this a few times but not enough, I've even recruited others in game when we ran out of women!
I've ran across other settlements every time but just kept chopping by.
I usually do two ax heads, two pies, and one ax in hand. I like to keep moving.
It's harder than you think to not die and/or loose axes. Chopping the right tree is hard work!
Be sure to go in a straight line as much as possible. Chop trees in sweet spots where people will definitely go and be curious. Make sure your stumps will be easily seen!
Do you think it's better to chop N/S or E/W? Probably doesn't matter much in the end.
I'll be chopping E/W on server 2 for a few lives if you feel like doing the same and we'll see what happens! Probably better than bells!
Make an ax and some extra ax heads and put them in your backpack.
Set off in one direction chopping down trees in a straight line until you die.
This will make it infinity easier for new eves to find your town!
Scooping dung with shovel should not break it. You ever see poop break a shovel?
Digging rocks, stumps, etc. ok. But poop breaks shovel? No.
It also allows griefers to easily destroy shovels and town gets nothing from it.
Should not happen. Waste rope and boards. Seen happen several times trying to store an ax! It turns to Kindling!
Everyone here is whining about having to LEARN morse code. BUT! you can just have international morse code on a picture, whether it be on a different tab or on your phone (preferably phone), and just translate it from there. eventually you'll actually pick it up doing it long enough.
We don't care about learning Morse code (just use google, no need to learn) we care that the addition to the game is pointless especially when considering the million of other options we could have. Plus two towns building one on the same server, I would love to see that happen...
Expecting everyone to learn Morse code is unreasonable. Having the device output speech bubbles when receiving would be great. Or how about letting us know which direction and how far the other waves come from like an always on bell between cities. Hopefully you plan to make it more useful and are just trolling us.
Hopefully the next update is just as large but with useful items. Even basic things that grow the tree out instead of up. I want to live a life in that room that's in the first screenshot of the video on your homepage. Stop trying to find ways to end our already short lives and waste them fetching iron. We just want a ridiculous amount of content.
You should listen to your son, he sounds like a smart kid!
You want to make sure people aren't just dicking over twins with a few curses.
I think people ganging up to curse them unjustly would be very rare but that would be the risk. I would raise and praise all twins if they did it knowing the risk instead of simply contemplating if I want to kill them.
I think something needs to be done about twins. They should be a blessing.
Getting cursed as a twin should amplify the number of curses both twins get so one bad twin in a town can easily get them both sent to donkey town their next lives with just three curses.
There is really no downside to being a twin, there should be one!
Thanks for the huge content update.
I can't wait for the day that there is so much stuff that nobody knows everything. To me, that's what will make this game legendary.
Had this bug when kids died instantly. No baby skeleton. Nothing. The moment I pick them up they die. I was able to still feed them so that was weird
I think I encountered this a few times yesterday. Kid was born, I went to pick up and it immediately turned to skulls on the floor. Even heard the skull drop death sound.
You should be able to remove your clothes when sick just like you can when you're a kid.
- You can plant wheat using a bowl of wheat, you don't need seeds.
- You can combine two curved branches for transport, no need for sharp stone.
- Never stab a snake from below. You will not win.
Adults will usually get a backpack and start doing something else so giving it to the productive farmer might backfire.
It's always a gamble, the smart productive adult can decide to start killing. You have no idea.
A bet on the future is the best bet. They will thank you and maybe take over your project.
I gear up kids so they know they are loved and are more likely to stay and be productive. I personally love getting a backpack full of food and weapons when I am born and those that give it to me don't regret it, neither does the village. It's a gamble but in the end...
Griefers gunna grief.
Thank you! I did this yesterday and was immediately born back to my daughter.
She started telling me the story of her eve mother that founded the camp.
She was shocked when she found out it was me.
I went and got my backpack from my eve corpse and set off to get iron before I became fertile.
I was promptly attacked by a tree wolf and died.

Jason DID do that for awhile, then people complained they were being completed too fast.
He has never had consistent content updates. I can think of two large updates: Farming and Cars. Others were very small, bug fixes, and tweaking game dynamics (water updates, curses, 2 apocalypses, etc) to make completing the tree harder instead of just making the tree bigger.
If he had weekly content release on the scale of farming and cars this game would be epic in a few months. He can then spend the last few months of game development tweaking what results from those massive content updates.
Remember, all my criticism is constructive. I love this game.
Dude, we got 4 different kinds of domestic animals (5 if you count dogs), hundreds of recipes and even carts to cars in a single year. Your getting the content. Plus, remember, they had to do this on server 14 and build an entire town specifically for this and STILL almost got griefed.
This isn't going to be happening very often, and certainly not much on the main 3 servers.
Dogs are useless and a nuisance. I don't care about different foods. I want tram cars that lead to robots with guns like the trailer. He only committed to two years and at this pace I don't see all that happening this year.
Apocalypses are a complete sidestep from the factual crafting feel of the game and completely break the feeling. Plus they do nothing to advance the tech tree and actually spit in its face with magic.
If we just had weekly content updates that advanced the tech tree the game would stay interesting.
One of the dumbest thing I've ever seen in a video game and I "lived" through the first apocalypse where a horse with a crown tied to a stop light ended the world.
It makes absolutely no sense and serves no purpose.
How do you go from trying to be technically correct about crafting an engine to this.
Please make it stop and give us actual content like we were promised.
[ General gripe ] I can count on one hand the number of people who understand and appreciate what Jason is trying to do with the Apocalypse.
Anyway:
Tarr wrote:The Apocalypse is basically impossible to trigger due to all sorts of different reasons.
Excellent analysis. Hopefully Jason will figure out something workable and worthwhile eventually.
Honestly I think the tower should inflict a fatal wound to anyone who removes a piece of the tower. At least if a person died removing a piece it would fit in the whole sacrifice theme related to the current style of apocalypse.
This absolutely should be true. I like the aesthetics of the current Apocalypse, but those aesthetics demand that ending the Apocalypse requires the same kind of sacrifice that starting it did.
The fact we're talking about a magical apocalypse (again) is just shocking.
The discussion should be about how the latest update got us closer to robots with lasers as seen in the trailer.
If it had a dual purpose maybe it would have more of a place in the game.
This is very true.
But also, most people were sold on a civilization building game where you pass down your ax. The apocalypse is opposite of that so people are rightfully frustrated.
Here Johnny, it's your turn to use grandpa's ax. Wait, everything just disappeared! How lame is that...
how can you progress, when their is nothing to progress too?
Focusing more on the tech tree than the apocalypse would solve this problem.
It's not just about crafting the most difficult item then calling it game over. It's how you use those items to advance a city.
We haven't even gotten close to a true civilization but we are on the second round of world ending updates...
