The game is making me depressed.

In the past few days, I've watched people kill others because:
- someone else named their baby
- someone wasn't watering berries fast enough
- someone added too many berry plots
- someone refused to give them a crown (that may or may not have existed)
- someone asked too many questions
- the new baby was a boy, so it was easier to just kill him and hope they got a girl
- they had a butter knife that allowed mass murder... so why not? (MANY TIMES OVER)

I've seen kindness in the game. I have.  But I see so much ugliness - and I play games to take me out of the ugliness of everyday life. This... this isn't. I'm becoming very disillusioned. Is there any way to have a kinder, gentler OHOL? Maybe a "no killing" server? Or is that just naive? 

Even the forums have become poisonous, with - in essence - guides to griefing.  Has anyone else experienced this feeling of depression with the game's path/people's behavior within it?  If so... what's keeping you in the game?

Everyone acts surprised when it goes a mass killing spree a decade later. I have enough anecdotes about cursed babies to know they are bad news.

Hi, so I'm a pretty new player, so I'm still figuring things out! When I'm told to do something, I'm a little slow because I'm dumb but trying to learn, but I try my best. I run into problems, however, when I ask my mother what I should do and she tells me to do anything I want. I end up running around for awhile trying to figure out what we need, and then when I can't figure out what I should do I feel like since I'm being useless, I should stop bothering everyone. Then I ditch anything I might have at the edge of town and run off to go starve or get eaten by something. I know I don't learn anything that way, so it does nothing to solve the bigger problem. I don't know why I keep doing it, but I do.

So, what are some relatively easy jobs to learn how to do that are usually needed in settlements? So I have a couple things to keep in mind that I can fall back on whenever I'm told to do whatever I want?

Why? I think it is really useful to use for the only girl. When I get named Hope, I instantly know what the situation is 99% of the time.
Would you prefer Goddess? That's used like Hope too.

After trying everything, including outright banning URLs from posts, and seeing the spam still coming through....

It seems that, in the modern world of human spammers, there's no automated way to stop them.

Except charging them $20 each.

It's a bold move, but the forum could change to become for paying customers only (this has been suggested by others in the past).

Your personal Download Page could display the secret answer to the security question for forum registration.  Or maybe the registration link itself could be hidden somehow, and only given freely to people on their Download Page.

Notice that this doesn't mean you have to buy the game to participate in the forums.  You have to buy the game OR talk to someone who bought it.  People could ask on Discord if they were really stuck.

And if the secret leaked to spammers, it could change weekly or whatever, in an automated fashion.
