So let's say you had at least one neighbor close by. Would it worth the hassle translating for a trade agreement or losing lives in a war.

I personally think neither, Just play defensively and work on your own town. Wars only an issue if you are ill prepared or the other town is technically superior  (They got swords and you don't). In one case people from an Eve camp just bow'd a random city dweller for his full set of clothes, Knife and cart. In other being prepared deters most raids.

I'd rather a long term trade aggrement, They continue producing things for you rather then one time payment. But even then you could kill them and replace them with your own people.

BUT EVEN taking over is stupid if your town is exactly the same or better anyway.


Just because we are closer and speak different, Dosn't make us want to trade or war (Unless you're already a griefer beforehand anyway).

2. Less chance of runners


But I think this will reduce the amount of people suiciding because a place is too advanced or vise versa. However you do still have people suiciding for gender which is made easier with this change.

I think while people like spoonwood always complain, Their is also alot of valid criticism.

The swords for example where way-op but you quickly made them more reasonable. Property fences was originally gonna be a magic hat that let's people build whatever they want, Changed once again.

I attempted a raid alone and failed miserbly. Basically they healed every victim within seconds and I got chased with the sword as soon I attacked them.

I ended up dropping my sword and another guy picked it up. At that point I surrendered and let them kill me.



It'd may be different if the town had no way of healing. I went for sword girl first but she was saved and was on my ass from then.


Has anybody actually launched a counter attack against raiders yet?

I'm actually suprised you didn't start griefing.


GL with your defenses. I thought about building walls but that can be expansive and gets in the same somewhere. You could instead build a raid bunker with either prop fence or normal walls.

Keep the girls safe and arm males with swords.

While this update has many flaws, It does give us a reason to care about defenses.


Property fence is cheap but hard to maintain, Especially for bigger towns. Stone walled plus locked gates is hardest but most effective once walls ancient. Just keep keys inside the border and make alot of backups.

Stone blocks could work well too, As long as raiders don't bring shovels with them.

She's just jealous of your gear. But I would've probably hunted more furs for others to use too. Even so, Making clothes for yourself still benefits the town long term as it gets passed down.

Also hunt seals and wolves if you have the means.

The easiest way is to steer clear of killing. Sometimes you have to to defend the town, You'll rarely get to D-Town if you kill an obvious troll.

Some Vets also kill people who leech and spend their time doing rp shit like making dresses. If you kill for minor things you will get more curses.





Anyway I think that resetting curse scores will only have short term effects. Griefers will just keep getting cursed and end up back in D-Town.

I was in Lettsome (I think) Gen 60 city. It had a nice organised farm with 3x3 Plots divided by wood, With cisterns between.

They had TWO diesel pumps and easily accessible Oil Rig connected to road. You probably helped make that town.

EVEN THEN lots of suicide babies.






I agree that people suicide more in bad towns but that isn't the sole reason. Towns are also shit because nobody wants to improve them, Different issue though.




The bigger problem is runner babies who get born to you multiple times and cockblock others from being born to you.

We all hate /die babies, Runners even more so. I hate the idea of free suicide, People make snap judgements within seconds.


Some ideas I've seen.


Respawn Timer: You have wait some time between Respawns. Won't effect people living normally but will inconvenience suicide babies. I'd say 3-5 mins would be enough.

Imobile babies: Can't be a runner if you cannot run. It'll probably increase the rate of mothers abandoning kids when they are out of town though.

Universal lineage ban: Often runners are people who want to see other towns first. With this you have to live with whatever you get or risk every other town being awful.
