If killing was meant to prevent griefing then why did you add the curse system? It's pretty useless to be honest, especially against us, it does more harm than good to the normal player-base. Griefers can easily sponsor each other's freedom while the average player is messed over. It's to the point where griefers don't even have to worry about donkey town, why burden the average player with that worry too?
In-fact it makes it more worth-while to group up and be a more tightly knit community of griefers.
I recall this all started when you tried to eliminate griefing using the 5-year curse update, it was more like you eliminated 60% of the active player-base.
When your update came all the griefers just bunched up and supported each-other while the player-base slowly died as different services like ohol curse grew to track player activity causing new players to be cursed on birth and be known as "griefers" themselves.
Jason, just remove the curse system and see what happens.

The fact that you are forced to do the extra work and "bunch up" is the point.

how cute you think you don't belong into a category because in theory you don't support it
you might end up the same and you will also do the extra work.
I mean he is right, when killing was easier and dodging possible, unskilled people had to keep their mouth shut, now they can hide behind groups. curses never made sense. and ever since kills are harder and self defence almost impossible, the combat is intention based. it's group vs group or group vs solo. depending on current players, a lot of them won't participate at all. you could kill anyone for any reason if you got support. and some people won't bat an eye or accept the first explanation.
oholcurse has some stats that are pretty obvious. people with more interactions tend to have way more outgoing curses than received ones. you can safely curse people from other towns, who just used their tokens or the ones who died before you, or off screen. having one sided curses makes no sense in some situations, I would say in most.
if you intentionally bother others you get cursed. it's like asking for it and admitting it. not all curses are like that, they might happen before a kill or any gameplay related griefing. so without context how do you know if it's fair, unfair, valid revenge or petty framing/slander? you can't apply the same formula on every case.
if most curses are reciprocated, there is no verification of their validity, and it inflates. try going asking for forgiveness in other towns, see if that improves your situation. or you can't even comprehend if it happens to you?

Playing OHOL optimally is like cosplaying a cactus: stand still and don't waste the water.
