Gloves

So, we have hats, shirts, pants, shoes, capes, and backpacks, but what about gloves?

Gloves could be made by taking two pieces of cut rabbit fur, and then splitting it in half to get one piece of cut rabbit fur. Then you use a needle and thread on it to get a glove.

The stats for the glove are as follows:

NAME: Rabbit Fur Glove
INSULATION: 2.5%
PICKUP AT AGE: 3
ITEM SIZE: Small

But why would we even need gloves?

Well, currently in the game, the highest insulation % you can get is 95%.

But with two gloves, you would increase your insulation by 5%.

And 95 + 5 = 100.

With gloves, it will FINALLY be possible to get an insulation % of 100%.

Bizarre claim, since ovens and kilns don't increase the player's temperature one bit.

If you were just joking, it would be better if you made that clear.

Edit: Alright, I didn't notice ovens and kilns increasing temperature when I made this comment.

They do as of a recent update. Do try to keep up.

None of those links show the player's temperature increasing.

Oh, you have the heat measure there.  But, it's less heat that the player would experience due to be a tile away from the oven or kiln at least.  Also, the word 'fry' in English isn't usually used to suggest a small bit of temperature above a comfortable level, but a much hotter state.  Potatoes get fried, an egg gets fried... neither temperature is comfortable for people if they experience it.  But, Pein's claim is less bizarre now to me, so thanks.

doesn't matter, any type of heat source, if you would enter a desert with 100% insulation or a mosquito byte you, 100% insulation would be the death of you

The later yes.  But, clothing doesn't heat anyone in desert or jungle for that matter and hasn't for over a year as I recall.  Unless 100% is different than 99% somehow.

Re: Gloves

110% is way worse than 95%
any heat source heats you and you would need to discharge that heat if the insulation is absolute which would be quite dumb

Re: Gloves

Unfortunately, the 6 types of clothes were decided long ago, and it's pretty expensive (for me) to add a new one at this point.

The 6 types are:

hat
tunic
bottom
backpack
left shoe
right shoe

Actually, shoes are the same item, but there are two different spots on the body.

The reason clothing works this way is so that it can fit everyone in a nice way, from babies to the elderly.  The top is hard-coded to position relative to the body, etc.  Gloves are kinda hard, because people have arms that change length throughout life, so there would need to be some more special-case coding there to add it.  Plus, support for glove positioning would need to be added to the editor, etc.

Re: Gloves

you could add belts and neckbands on top

Innogames the west had so similar sprites to ohol, it's kinda scary, even the picture sizes.

Would be fun even if it's just décor, lot of people just do clothes for their look

Farmers would also fry when walking near a heat source with 100% insulation.   Farmers heat up the same as everyone else.

But will farmers walk near burning ovens or kilns?  Not always at least.

All it would take is dying of heat stroke one time.   Then you won't be walking anywhere.

No character dies from heat stroke.  So, your concern isn't relevant.

Because we have no gloves.

Re: Gloves

Actually, we do already die from heat stroke.  That's what happens when yellow fever raises your temperature so much you rapidly starve to death.    That's why you could save yourself by running around naked and fleeing to a snow biome, back before the temperature overhaul.    And if we were able to reach 100% insulation, that's why people would cook themselves to death by standing too close to a fire.

That's death by starvation.

DestinyCall wrote:

You couldn't do that clothed before the temperature overhaul.  And if you're naked, doing such would still save you.

No, standing by a fire with 100% insulation won't kill people.  Staying by the fire with 100% for a long period of time might, but this isn't a game about standing still, is it?

Maximum insulation is actually 97% if you wear a cape instead of a backpack
