I think ohol was harder in the past because the entire meta of the game changed every other week back in the day. I prefer the game in the stable state that it is now tbh. Everything isn't perfect but I cba to learn the game all over again.

Unless you've been logging into server2 Shady, I doubt it's a rat issue.

Sounds like server 2 might be broken as far as eve spawns. It's been working for me on a different server. Obviously bs2 doesn't work but I would suggest avoiding server1 also because bs2 players get pushed there from time to time.

#29 Re: Main Forum » How Do You Eve Chain? » 2023-08-05 03:24:20

If you span as an Eve and live to old age, you will spawn next to your bones if you get Eve again. If you spawn as someone's kid it won't break your chain. You don't need a home marker.

I love this change, but I would love even more if popcorn, garlic and green beans were more similar to eat.
You can eat popcorn and greenbeans from the bowl but not garlic.
You can remove a single garlic clove and now a single green bean but not popcorn.

You can’t just use trust score for leadership because it’s the same issue that caused trust to be added.

Dude with 20 accounts will just twin to tutorial (trip or quad even), trust all the accounts, then boom. I suddenly am always leader because all these accounts are trusting each other.

I wasn't suggesting to use ONLY their trust score to chose leader. I was thinking that the trust score would add an invisible point to your gene score. If one person has a gene score of 55 but no one trusts them and another person has a gene score of 54 but 10 people who trust them are online, then the second person would become leader. I wouldn't want the trust score to weigh very much but some would be nice.

I don't see how having all 20 of your alts trust eachother would do much if it only takes into account online and non-donkey trust into your score...

Could the trust system not be used for this? If there were a way to track someone's "trust score" similar to their curse score, you could use it to weight the process the game already uses to choose leader.
You would have to filter out offline accounts and donkeys so it won't be exploited so easily. I still think something like that would be better than using playtime but probably not much better than what we have now though.

#33 Re: Main Forum » Excessive amount of griefing » 2023-06-29 13:19:32

Would it be horrible if bears were biome locked?
I feel like the biggest problem with bear griefing is the people who gather a ton and lure them long distances. I'm sure there are problems with them being locked, like them being easier to kill if you stay on the edge or badlands will probably fill up with bears due to griefers. I don't see and major problems tho.

#37 Re: Main Forum » Why Jason...Jr » 2019-11-02 22:22:19

I could maybe understand if they were born in another town and you genuinely never saw him, but he was born and died while you were alive. I also understand that there are still runner babies who don't want to be saved, but if there is a baby abandoned in your family you should do your best to help it out. (or help the mother if she is struggling)
Family is just the last name, this game doesn't take into consideration how many degrees you are separated from them.

#38 Re: Main Forum » Bow saw bug? » 2019-11-02 16:45:54

From Tarr on discord:

All the different bugs found for tool learning at the moment.

-Putting sword on a backpack causes you to learn the sword skill.
-Storing a saw into a chest causes the saw skill to be learned.
-Can avoid learning stake skill as long as you aren't digging up berry bushes.
-Putting a sterile pad into a bowl teaches the pads skill along with taking out of an apron on the ground but wearing an apron then removing or adding a pad doesn't teach skill.
-Can fish without learning the fishing skill.
-Fishing skill is learned by using a rod on a worm but can be ignored if you use a worm on the fishing rod.
-Can avoid learning shears skill by shearing an item you are wearing (snakeskin boots, wool sweater)
-Can avoid learning thread+ needle skills by using on something you're wearing (converting skirt to shorts for example.)
-Treating a cleaned stab wound with ball of thread and needle doesn't learn the skill.
-Can learn sword skill by clicking on an invalid attack target (trying to target someone you're at peace with or even your own family.)
-Recycling a sword in a newcomen roller into a steel rod teaches both the sword skill and roller skill.
-Picking up paper while holding a pencil learns the pencil skill regardless if you write anything or not
-Adding paper to bow and arrow learns bow skill but if someone swaps the item to the ground afterwards (thus leaving it on the ground as bow and arrow + paper) someone else can then pick the bow up and attack others without learning the bow skill.
-Sterilized knife can treat arrow wounds without learning sterilized knife skill.
-Sterilizing knife on a fire learns the knife skill which then causes the knife to be held backwards while sterile.
-Able to pad wounds with pad without learning the skill.

Really? big_smile Nice! I built tutorial town and a garden around the Tarr monument. I planned to use the town to learn stuff I hadn't tried in the game yet. But I got sidetracked by other projects, and haven't played for quite a while.

Wow I was wondering who started that town. I built a lot there. Made the engine for the well, made a yum shrine, painted a pretty decent sized building, and fenced in a penguin near the tarr monument since he was out of his biome. You should check it out.

I gave up playing on that server though since I can never finish anything that I start now.

I feel like low pop servers should automatically have more tool slots since I have no one to ask for help. If gene score is excluded somehow from low pop servers, why is this co-op updated forced on all servers?

Jason has had a problem remembering those people, as evidenced by the wipes that completely destroyed low populations server towns.  What town was yours in server12?

I sort of took over the 'tutorial town' in the center of the map. I built a bell tower there yesterday. (3, -37) It hasn't been wiped since the rift was implemented from what I understand. It's just a little frustrating having co-op shoved down my throat when I'm literally the only person alive...

#41 Re: Main Forum » Nostalgia Thread: A story or something you miss from the old days » 2019-11-01 23:54:56

those looooooooong loooooooong roads. Just the dedication of people before everything was shoved in a tiny box and erased so frequently.

#44 Re: Main Forum » Anyone else hate this new tool update? » 2019-11-01 17:07:58

I hate it. Not only does it restrict what i do but it makes it way harder to teach new people how to complete a job. I can only tell them not instead of showing them because i don't want to waste my tools slots on a job I'm about to hand over to someone else.
The text floating above peoples heads doesn't lend itself to easy communication between players, and now we have to rely on it to survive.
Now not only do i have to find the axe but now i have to run around asking who can use it and by the time you find him the fire is already dead. Time to find the guy who can use the firebow drill. It's not cooperation it's just another chore.
I used to play on server 12 to relax when i got too frustrated by the hustle and chaos of bigserver2. Now playing on a low pop server and huge headache.
I feel like I got nerfed hard.

#45 Re: Main Forum » How to ruin the Eve experience » 2019-10-30 07:22:06

Can i add the rift to that list. I feel like I'm playing in a prison now compared to how the maps used to be.

I feel this so hard. The rift was bad enough, now this. We need content not constraints.

#47 Re: Main Forum » Join our knew trolling discord server » 2019-09-06 04:18:01

This just looks sad. i don't get how you could be proud of that picture. It's not hard to do and it looks like a cluttered nightmare. This is the equivalent to a child showing me a finger painting except it took a whole group of toddlers to make this mess. Especially after seeing a beautiful monument on a private server, this is just pathetic.
I don't know if trolls on 2HOL would just lock already existing buildings but at least that was aesthetically pleasing. There were tons of beautiful buildings with symmetrical trees and roses and such around but it would always be locked with tons of great stuff inside.

When I try to take a screenshot of this game it just captures my desktop as if I don't have the game open.
I love taking screenshots in games and it makes me really sad I can't do that on here.
I've taken a few pictures on my phone of my computer screen because it's the only way I can think of to capture what's on my screen. They look terrible though sad

Is there anything I can do to fix or bypass this?

#50 Re: Main Forum » If fences are not viable, what does that mean? » 2019-05-18 04:38:22

Could you maybe use a road tile instead of a floor tile to block building? I feel like there is waaay less reason to build on a flat rock road tile. Blocking building things on that specific tile instead of wood flooring might be easier to do and make more sense.
