Yum is great for pumping out babies at dead hours
Otherwise less great. It can be good for the bonus if your town is dedicated to it, but on a main server people are just going to randomly eat all of your specialty pies and stuff ![]()
Ah yeah, so your name is permanent, and you probably said "I am, Actually" at some point. That said, we changed the only viable naming phrase to "My Name Is" so this doesn' happen anymore, and I can erase your old name. I thought I erased al the goofy ones last time, but perhaps I missed yours.
Is there really any point to having early death not give a lineage ban? I mean, the rationale was that newbies could get back to town easily, but in a bigserver, you're only usually getting back if you intentionally try and newbies don't know the population dynamics. Mostly it's just used for griefing, 39 year old eves, and respawning as a girl ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The tutorial should be a one tile map with a note that says ": watch youtube" ![]()
@ fragility Some people would voluntarily go to donkeytown for a persistent town, though. The ones so lazy they can't figure out how to join a custom server xD
Satire?
Most of the infois pinned in discord channels. There's way too many things for me to say by now to just copy/paste it here xD
PIES!
Had a dying town filled with a bunch of no-lastnames all called tyrone. The town literally had one piece of food left that I grabbed and ran off with as I bolted way out of town, then almost starved because everything in a mile radius was foraged.
I kinda feel bad, as I grabbed the food, the boy in front of me starved a moment later and he was grabbing for it too :_(
Two names in a lineage can happen when a foreigner with a different surname names a nameless kid. The kid stays in the same line but with the new name. At least I'm pretty sure that's how it works.
Been a while since I've bumped the thread, most of the activity is on the discord xD
Server's currently down since yesterday, since there were a few bugs on the main servers, but I'm getting it back up in a moment..
Edit: back up!
I'll bump the thread for ya
It used to be 100 times worse, before bigserver. Most of the reason I made the OCS.
True, but you usually get a backpack if you ask for one. When there's 4 town moms and a full time baker with a backpack, generally one will figure out they're not using it for anything.
Well, mainly I'd do it for griefer protection. Someone raising triplets can tank an entire town, but a close outpost would be able to repopulate it probably. Also, potentially starting with a better town base. Eves are rushed as hell and make stupid long term choices because of it. Berry field in weird place, etc.
This is just how randomness works. Average is 20 these days. But you can get 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.
The only drawback is that you might never be reborn into the original village, which would mean that your work was done for nothing.
Well this is true of every main server town right?
That said, I like the idea of close suburbs better, though. You can more easily totally move the entire town over if you wanted, and could maybe even achieve it as a woman.
Even with the bottom being raised "a bit" there's the issue of taking 2 minute break while exploring. This, to me, is a real annoyance. Previously, you needed to find a mild temp spot and you had your 5 minutes. Now you just die even fully clothed.
So I agree with shit button
No hunger, and moving breaks the shit duration.
Edit: Alternatively, just have activity in general affect temperature maybe? So sitting still in worst conditions adds a straight 4-5 seconds per pip. I remember a xwynn's video where he thought this actually occurred even though it doesn't. It'd make teaching a lot easier too, and wouldn't really buff the game since you need to move to do anything useful. Although I guess the extra server calculations would mean it's not worth it ![]()
It could be that the game actually supports very large rooms maybe? The jungle arena in OCS is actually a room, it's just something like 20x20. So maybe it was assumed to be open space, but actually does count as enclosed? Giant rooms actually working would be excellent if that is true. It also has smaller enclosed areas with belltower bases, which maybe count as enclosed? I think the arena is a bad place to test this stuff actually, too many variables xD
As in not at all, or small amount? When the arrow is that low, it's hard to detect even a sizeable %
Edit: I'm confused, doesn't your own post here contradict that?

The stone floored jungle arena is bigger than 8x8 and has no fire. Or is it just cooling that works?
Flooring makes sense. But rooms nope. Someone posted a screen of our jungle arena on One City Server, and the stone floors cool it off quite nicely. Bear rug wooden floors ought to be great in the open on neutral biomes as well.
Ultimately, I think all of the buildings are counterproductive so far for clutter reasons and shouldn't be built. I normally don't care about clutter, but with walls clutter becomes an obscene monster. Room sizes are just too small, and are also too useless without a fire. I think you'd need cheaper fires and like 20x20 buildings for rooms to really be worth using really, and fires to last long enough that you could build one in every building. (e.g. firewood triple longevity)
Regarding 1 year, it's not enough time, because I frequently load the game at 1 year
It'd be fine if you loaded stuff first and then made the baby haha.
i hate people using this, though that's just my perception of how the game should be played.
One thing that's come out since the update, is before those of us who choose note to use /die where NEVER in Eve camps. People complain there are too many Eves, but I've had as many as 1/3-1/4 of my kids do /die, and clearly the /die'rs get all the Eve camps.
I'd like a meta control for this, like you get 3 /dies per hour of gameplay, or something.
[i would add, if you do something like that, I wouldn't be against you giving Tarr and a few other players a pass for unlimited /dies, there is a value to Tarr testing out all the latest tech etc]
That keeps getting suggested, but what happens when you /die more than 3 times? Now you're back to pre-/die when kids would just run off to starve. Also Tarr can test out stuff on my private server as he's done before
I too feel like /die is awful and have my own ideas concerning it, but perhaps that's it's own topic.
Regarding the topic at hand, I'd go with #2 as well, and add shift+del as a convenient shortcut for /die
Pretty sure death by snowballs are considered hunger deaths. It's possible I think to get an actual "kill" by snowball, tarr posted some images of where cause of death was snowball, but you have to repeatedly do it really fast, to the point where it's not worth doing.
